Raheem Morris
One of the greatest quotes ever:
Morris first proclaimed the Bucs the "best team in the NFC'' after they rallied to beat the Rams 18-17 at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday. He reiterated his point on Monday, even after he was told the Bucs rank 23rd in total offense and 22nd in total defense.
"Stats are for losers," Morris said, "so you keep looking at stats and we'll keep looking at wins.
Awesome.

lmao. You have to love Raheem.
Now if only we can find a way to ensure nobody tells him the win-loss record is a stat . . .

People's interest in stats help pay his bills. Football wouldn't be as interesting to talk about if we couldn't analyze stats. I know what he said sounds tough, and he's winning, so people are gonna lap it up, but what's he gonna say if his team starts losing.

Yes it would.
No one eve knew they had the 23rd and 22nd ranked offense and defense. And it doesn't matter that they do. 4-2 matters.

You're only fooling yourself if you think analyzing stats isn't part of the fun of football. There's a reason sites like NFL.com and ESPN.com dedicate pages and pages and pages to stats. There's also a reason fantasy football is huge. I know Morris' team has a pretty record, so many won't dare question him, but people like analyzing stats.
One reason Morris may not want to talk about stats is that Tampa's wins came vs doormats and they got blown out by the Saints and Steelers.

While I do like the young nucleus of players they got going with Blount, Freeman and Williams. Im not sold on them as a team yet. But hey, all they can do is go out, play hard and win.
Im also not sold on Morris as a head coach. He had to many "what the f" moments last year. Some bad play calling and lack of adjustments. Wait and see I guess.

Listened to the interview today and was very impressed with Raheem. But this team still needs a lot to be a contender. Bucs won't make the playoffs this year IMO.

He's a terrible public speaker for the most part. Proclaiming to be the best is a fat white guy thing, not a skinny black dude thing. Leave the tough guy bravado to the cruiseliner that is Rex Ryan.

That doesn't mean he has to care about stats. Bill Belicheck hates the media yet he has some of the most devoted fans in the NFL. Morris can say and do whatever he wants within the rules and reason - his bills will get payed if he wins games, I guarantee it.

Getting 4 wins out of this group of kids is something else.
Doing so with a QB no one thought should be picked that high makes him look like a damn genius.

Yeah, thanks for clearing up the obvious. Nobody said he couldn't say what he wants. However, the media interviews him for fans, and like it or not, stats help drive fan interest. That "stats is for losers" tough guy talk is great when the Bucs are getting big single digit wins vs the Browns and Rams. I bet it won't be holding up next time the Bucs get smoked by legit contender.

Rahim Morris doesn't care about stats because Madden taught him that they don't matter.

From all his press conferences and the all the turmoil(mainly last year) for the Bucs under Raheem makes it seem like he is way over his head. But it seems like he really is one of those coaches who players want to play hard for and who they respect. Which is very important, especially for a really really young team like the Bucs. So i dunno...got to take the bad(like all his quotes) with the good

As with all young coaches, there is always a breaking in process. It's a fact of life.

I don't think he honestly thinks stats are for losers
What he's not going to do is go, "Oh yea, you're right. We do suck"
I give him props for sticking up for his team. Sign of a good coach

You've gotta give him props for going into interviews with his heart on his sleeve. He's not afraid of saying what he's thinking.

Why do we have to give him "props" for this? It is refreshing to sometimes hear an honest coach in a league where they train their personnel to say nothing, but at the same time he basically insulted 90% of his fan base. I'm not mad or anything but this isn't anything besides a young coach trying to be bold.

Herm Edwards used to do the same thing and a lot of people had some not so nice things to say about him.
But it's Raheem Morris, so you gotta love it, right?

I agree with him completely. Football is not a game of statistics at all. We should all know that here, this is a draft forum.
People who use stats in football discussions usually are people who don't watch the games and just scroll through their fantasy league standings.
