Everybody's saying Shanahan wanted to send McNabb a message by yanking him.

If he wanted to do that all he needed to do was point out that his contract expires in the 1st wk. of January, he's on a 1-yr. McNabb, you were never anything more than a placeholder. He will be a backup with his 3rd team next yr & he seems to be OK with it.

If Shanahan wants to be the Skins coach of the future, not Just Another Snyder Temp Employee like the 3 previous HCs & establish his identity with this team it will be without Haynesworth or McNabb. Maybe without Clinton Portis (9 yrs in the NFL) or Santana Moss (10 yrs) too, both aging & underachieving with big salaries. Snyder will have to pay them off to dump them but he hasnt seemed to lose any sleep over that lately.

As usual they don't have the standard no of draft picks so he will have to maneuver next April if he wants to go with a youth movement

I don't see how Shanny can build a good identity with the team through lies. You want respect so you change your story from one day to the next? ummm . . . huh?

Shanahan is looking as egotistical as Childress its pathetic how childish these 'professionals' are. No player comes before the team, but the coach cant let his personal agenda or feelings get in the way either. He just has to do what gives them the best chance to win, not put a player in timeout so the media knows he thinks its the qbs fault.

The reason the excuses for pulling him keep changing is because it was wrong. It didnt work out nor could he have possibly truely believed it would have worked out. ITS REX ****** ******* GROSSMAN!!! Hes always sucked. Always. He shat on Haynesworth to get a point across that no ones bigger than the team. But hes going to far to prove hes the boss and hes going to start losing respect in that locker room very fast, especially if they continue to lose.

Childress is gone at the end of the year, thats a given, but if Lizardstate is right and a lot of these older guys leave at the end of the year, they will struggle next year too and Shanahan could be out of a job then or even at the end of this year if they want a fresh start with a guy who will actually use their 100milliondollar man.

Not enough was made about the risk Owens took with that performance. He could have ruined his career with another injury. except owens came out and threw **** at mcnabb, the second time hes thrown his qb under the bus in two years after calling garcia ***, which didnt exactly earn him any friends in the media. then he said 'it wasnt my fault it was that guys' again at mcnabb now which true or not is classless, especially in a team game. ship goes down, everyone goes down with it, no exceptions. except TO apparently

On the other hand, your star quarterback spent the whole week partying and was too hungover to be effective during the Superbowl. He pukes before the last drive and ends up throwing a pick to lose the game.

It's like Kobe/Shaq all over again. One is the hardest worker in the game, the other a fat slob who's constantly out of shape. Both are complete dickheads, yet you only hear the side of the story from the media people. except, you know, kobe cheated on his wife and was accused of rape. and everywhere shaq has gone hes won titles and been a force until he got old and somehow even lazier. and shaq is hilarious, the fat guy whos funny is always gunna be favored over the skinny guy whos a cheating possible rapist.

The media is so ******* stupid. How can Owens be so despised and a guy like Favre be so universally loved when they're the same ******* person?Simple. Favre plays the media game. Owens doesnt. Favre is universally hated among fans at this point, but the media makes it seem like hes still a loveable guy. If this sterger thing comes out to be true though, he could see himself take a serious hit. Women are in the media, and they stick together when it comes to a man cheating cause theyve all been there.
How do you know McNabb was partying all superbowl week? Idk ive seen you assert this a few times and im not saying its not true, just that I havent seen any evidence to prove it in legit sources.

Every coach wants to be Belichick and try to win without too many big names so everyone will think they are brilliant.

From McNabbs presser today:

Relationship is fine with everyone in the organization. Reports are complete BS. Loves working with Kyle and Mike.

Thinks he is a good fit in DC and the system.

McNabb and Grossman went to dinner together after game.

Says 100% WILL BE THE QB IN DC NEXT YEAR. He wants to be a Redskin.

Well what did you expect him to say. I hate this town. I'll leave if I get a better offer. I'm not fitting well in the offense. No point in him alienating himself from his teammates and the media. Not saying he doesn't truly believe all of this but one doesn't mean the FO and Shanny believe this, and guys like LeBron James were saying these things all of last year. I honestly wouldn't take anything he says at this point.

all im doing is reporting on what he said. interpret it as you will. he's a class act either way and yes i do believe he wants to resign in DC. as you said its not necessarily up to him but there are still 8 games left this year and no reason to make premature speculation right now.

Obviously McNabb is going to say all those things, he's been down this road before. I'm leaning towards him not re-signing which would be disastrous and even though he has played pretty bad, we need his leadership. Get him a legit WR and a decent running game in the off-season and he'll be fine. Not sure if Shannahan really wants him for the future though, should be an interesting second half of the season. Crazy how much things have changed in one week.

Really, JaMarcus Russell? I can't stand this organization.

ok so now Kyle Shannahan is saying that he told Mcnabb before the game that if he wasn't playing well they might bench him. According to Mcnabb though he was never told this. ok it has to be one or the other, do these guys even talk to each other, it seems like these guys talk to the media more than they talk to each other. Did Kyle like put in fineprint at the bottom of the weekly gameplan that he might be benched, lol. What a flippin mess.

It looks bad from a PR standpoint. However, I expect the Shannies and McNabb to meet and discuss. It will be fine for the remainder of this year. However, it might be the beginning of the end with McNabb. Not much is keeping him from exploring FA and not signing an extension, especially if the Skins aren't going to pay him along the lines of what Brady just got...

Other than the obvious one's like Minnesota and Arizona, what are some of the other plausible potential suitors for Mcnabb?

I think those are easily the top options. Other teams that could make a play:

Seattle
Cleveland
Jacksonville

Also note that the Eagles will be trading Kolb or Vick. McNabb will have to strike quickly or else Vick could steal a job he wants and a lot of the free cash.

Yeah, the fact that Favre is somehow a likable figure in the media is beyond me. The guy has always been a selfish asshat with zero admirable qualities.
The media could turn anyone into a bad guy, If mother teresa played football and she did not talk to media or didn't like the media. The media would find a way to make mother teresa look like the worst team mate ever.

(I am not saying T.O. is the nicest person in the world or anything like that)

I just hate how the Shanny's are still talking about it. Why is that every day it's a new story. No matter who is right or who is wrong when you constantly change your facts you look like an ass.

I don't think so, didn't he sign a 2 year deal with the Eagles?

Vick is a FA after the year. I guess they'd have to franchise him to trade him but I can't imagine a team giving up that much for Vick.

And they would have to pay him a huge franchise tag figure. That makes negotiating a multiyear deal more expensive.

The 'cardiovascular endurance' line is one of the worst excuses I've ever heard. It's a lie. It's Shanny lying. Sorry, if the receivers are running routes and coming back every play, if the fatty linemen are playing every down, the quarterback is not going to be too tuckered out to play. Shanahan didn't trust McNabb with the game on the line, is all. I don't know what is going on with this BS excuse.

Redskins are so concerned with quarterback endurance that they bring in Jamarcus, yah that makes sense.

I hope nobody's surprised. Oakland fans have seen just about everything there was to see with this guy. Well-respected members of the organization like Willie Brown were willing to sacrifice their reputation to save face for the guy. What a disgrace to the sport he is.

Hate to dig up an old thread but, i had a hard time resisting the title. Anyways, Schefter's reporting a 4 year extension for McNabb may be in the works.
