I liked what I saw from Flacco today.
25/34
265 yards
2 tds
0 ints.
A nice stat line for a playoff away game.

I wish we had more routes were we could just dump off and let people go like the Ravens had today. (Not that it's Flacco's fault he has those throws)

ya I was thinkin the other day, perhaps our weapons are better suited for each others QB. Like if Flacco had a guy like white who can go deep. Or if Ryan had Boldin,MAson,Housh, and Heap to have short passes.

Reasons why Matty Ryan is the best young gun, no questions asked:
- Tied Dan Marino's record for most wins within the first three years with 33.
- Has 13 GW drives in the 4th Q or OT within 3 years, including 6 in 2008.
- In games decided by 4 points or less, his team has a 10-5 record, tied with Tom Brady for the 2nd best in the league since 2008.
- When games are in a tied situation, his QB rating of 93.3 ranks 4th best behind Manning, Brees, and Rodgers since 2008.
- In 2008, when the defense brings 5 or more rushers, Matt Ryan has the highest completion percentage (64%), lowest sack number (7), and the highest passer rating (100.3) among any QB with 180 blitz attempts.
- On 3rd down in 2008, Ryan's sees an increase in his completion percentage (to 63.3), his YPA (7.4), and passer rating (104.1). This year, the Falcons finished third in 3rd down conversion by converting 47% of their chances.
There is a reason Matty Ice stuck and is still sticking.

I voted for Ryan, still am astonished people took Stafford ahead of Ryan, despite all the on-field evidence and production for Matt Ryan vs Matt Stafford.

To be fair they counted a 10 yard drive(I forgot against what team) as a game winning drive. He threw a couple INTs on what were suppose to be GW drives but got the ball back.

Amazing the least liked guy and least respected guy is the one who wins games in the playoffs and the games that matter most.
4-1 in the postseason...all 5 games on the road. That is Mark Sanchez, the New York Jets quarterback.

If I was a Jets fan, I'd be pulling a BOE and be bumping every single Sanchez thread right now and posting a crow picture.

Jor Flacco has a big arm and Stafford beat the browns, they clearly better than mark Sanchez.

Mark with 2 AFC title games in his first two years. Very impressive.

There's a reason why in the thread that spawned this one I had Sanchez over Flacco (which lead to a Ravens fan flipping out) for the long term
With that said, he's still not that good and everyone knows it. He's still young and the flashes he shows (at the right times, too) suggest he will be, though

The only thing I can think of when I see this thread is Aaron Rodgers. Yea he's a little older(27) than these guys but this is only his third season as the starter which pretty much makes him a young gun in my book.
I remember: grooming QB's.

winning in the playoffs is one thing. Trent Dilfer and Rex Grossman did it. So far Sanchez rating is identical to Dilfer's at the same point. Mark played great against the Patriots, he played like **** against the Colts and was bailed out by a running game that was unstoppable in the 2nd half and great defensive play. Microcosm of his career so far.

2nd Half he had a good game vs IND
Last year he was solid and did more than manage the game like Dilfer @CIN, @SD and @IND....had 1 turnover in those 3 games total last year. Has just 1 @IND and @NE thus far.

Sanchez played well today, but one game doesn't make him the best young QB out there. I still think he is behind Ryan, Stafford, Freeman, and Bradford and possibly even Flacco.
Mark Sanchez came into the perfect situation. Top 5 OL, TOP 5 running game and top 5 defense. All he had/has to do is not screw up. Come on, that running game is very good and many analysts say the Jets might have the best O-line in the NFL. There defense was the real winner today. They brought the pressure to Tom Brady. Sanchez made some plays and a few good throws, but I wouldn't say he's elite. A few throws, like the one to cotchery, he was ridiculously wide open, even I could have hit him on that short ball with the field wide open.
He played good today, but he is really inconsistent. However since he does play QB, a lot of people will say he beat Manning and Brady back to back. Really, the defense and the running game dominated against Indy and the defense was in Brady's face all day.

Not even the biggest Jets homers think he's an elite QB, but he has gotten an unwarranted amount of hate at times, so let us have our moment.

Winning in the playoffs and winning in the regular season/putting up good numbers in the regular season are two completely different animals.
There's a whole bunch of nerves and teams (defenses) supposedly get up to play their best during the playoffs.
Despite him not being elite, you have to respect what he's been able to do.
You can't just say: replace him with quarterback B and you get the same result! because that's not entirely the case, regardless if quarterback B has all the ability in the world.

Whenever I watched Stafford, he looked light years ahead of Sanchez. It sucks that he was hurt all year, but when he's on the field, there is no doubt he is 10x better than him.
I had a tough time with this one, because both Sanchez and Flacco are the two young QBs in this league that got drafted in situations of having a veteran established team around them and excellent defenses. Flacco played Pittsburgh this past weekend in Pittsburgh, so I'll see how Sanchez performs. If the running game is shut down, I truely wouldn't bet on Sanchez leading the team to victory.

how would you guys rate Flacco performance against the Steelers? Personally I would say it was great but I wouldnt say it was bad. It sucks the WRs that were brought in to get us over the top cant catch when it ******* matters. If Boldin holds on we would have been down by 3. And if hoosh held on we would have been close to FG range.

I disagree. Sanchez honestly, just needed to manage the game today. The Jets defense owned the Pats today. He contributed with those TD passes, but it's not like the 1st two were excellent throws. His WR made the plays. His throw to Santonio Holmes was very nice though.

It seemed that Flacco and the Ravens offense capitalized when the defense put them in position to score. I'll give him credit there, but yeah WRs drop balls, but they still struggled to move the offense. Wouldn't say he was horrible, but he wasn't great either. Even the best QBs struggle against the Steelers defense though.
