I just got the Droid 4 today to upgrade from my Droid 1. Holy balls 4G is faster. I got 11 mb download on a speed test with 4 out of 5 bars. Suck that the battery isn't removable though because I know I'm gonna murder the battery life.

@Niel ,
most of the newer smart phones battery won't be removable all the 4g ones I know are even my htc thunderbolt.
I do have a question tho I've been to Phoenix and downtown Seattle I will have 4g but when I go to Vegas I don't get 4g. But co workers who travel to Vegas have 4g network on their Razor device. So I was just wondering if it my phone or the network in Vegas?Should I call VZW or just let it be?

I never had a problem in Vegas unless I was in a hotel or casino. On the strip I was just fine.

Yea even down on the strip I could never get 4g network I found an option in my wireless network settings called LTE / CDMA (3g I assume) Before I had that just turned to CDMA network. Now I'm not positive on that but I think that will get me 4g in Vegas I will once I get back there for a day next Sunday. Weird thing is tho I had 4g all of Seattle and Phoenix and even in Portland so I dunno why know it would just stop working unless I turned it off by some mistake.

LTE/CDMA means 4G/3G (It will run 4G unless it doesn't get a signal then it will switch to 3G). CDMA means 3G only (it's a battery saver).

If you have any battery widget on your droid, take it off, all it does is take up space and waste your battery further. I took mine off 4 days ago an I'm noticing a significant increase in my battery life. I'm kicking myself for not realizing this sooner.

I have a rooted GN.
There are some bugs still in the official 4.0.2 release. I actually feel like the Sprint GN is taking away from development time for the GSM/LTE versions. Honestly, this is the first nexus I've ever had that I've had 4 months and only gotten 1 update.
If that continues, the next update could be during Google IO...

Laughably easy. The "Galaxy Nexus Toolkit" basically makes it impossible to screw up.

Can someone tell me what the advantages of rooting a phone is? I'm technically savvy but I'm not sure where to start and why i would do it.

I'm looking into getting a tablet or a Kindle for reading.
All those specs mean nothing to me, I'm not savvy at all with tech stuff.
I just want something that allows me to read, browse the internet(draftcountdown!) and check my email.
I did a quick price check and I saw the Kindle Fire is about 200 bucks.
That's about my price range. Some of the tablets are pushing 400-600 bucks.
That's out of my range.
Honestly, I don't know the difference between a tablet and a Kindle.
I'm guessing the tablet does more, just not sure what that "more" is though.
Any help/insight would be nice!

If you just want it for reading, the Kindle is going to be the best bet.

For the price the Kindle Fire is great. For only $200 its great. The kindle fire is an android tablet so reading, internet and email are all handled easily. I got one for chrismas and I love it. Its a nice couch gadget & nice size to take with you. WiFi only fwiw. You should go to a best buy and play around with one to get a feel for it. For only $200 is a bargain.

I almost bought a Kindle Fire but then I heard of the new Google Nexus tablet that's suppose to be coming out this year.
Rumors that they'll try and undercut the Fire by selling it for only $150 bucks too.
I don't have time for reading right now with my current school load so I'll just wait it out probably.

Am I the only one who's phone is acting very buggy lately? It takes forever for the home screen to load, every time I hit an app it takes forever to load etc. A lot of my updates don't download right away, instead saying invalid package file, etc.
I'm starting to get annoyed with the Android OS. Too buggy. Not nearly as smooth as apple.

Well the only few things I can think of is the obvious your phone is like a computer. Right now your phone is like running Windows Vista with a single core processor and 1-2 GB of ram.
So with that analogy out of the way it could be a couple different things.
Easiest ways to try first are:
The easiest and first thing you always try first is to perform a reset on the phone by taking out the battery for a min putting it back in and then seeing if that has any effect.
Second is finding the problem apps and clearing their cache. You have to go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage then click on the app and click clear cache.
If that doesn't work and the app is still acting up you can try a clean install of the app.
If the phone is dirt slow still and nothing is functioning right you can clear system cache (Its recommended you back up everything for good measure at this point). Power the phone off -> Power On while holding down the Home key -> When exclamation point icon appears press BOTH volume keys ->Use volume keys to navigate to "wipe cache partition" and tap the power button to select -> Wait for it to reboot.
The more drastic measures are:
Try a reset to factory settings... This is the last thing you want to do but could solve the problem.
Lastly is to get a new phone. Right now as the analogy earlier explains your phone is on the border of being out dated. The Droid X was never a really fast phone and was coming out around the time dual core phones started to appear. Right now developers are building/ updating apps and the OS to reflect the changes in hardware. You are on the cusp of needing to replace your phone because of the natural cycle and you might be forced to upgrade if none of the above actions help at all.
I hope this fixes the problem and allows you to keep using your phone. I know people think iOS is great and has no problems but it does and its personal preference. I and a lot of the members here will tell you to stick with Android and the other half will tell you go to iOS. Its really just what you want out of your phone.

The EVO 3D is a considerably faster phone. The EVO 3D is a dual core and has twice the RAM.
