But those guys aren't from California, Florida or Texas...therefore, they must not be recruitable.

Yeah he sort of is sneaking up on people like Connor Barwin did. Both guys started out as TEs. The differance is Watt seems to have the size and ability to be a star at the 3-4 DE postion. He might be great at that postion.

Speaking of Watt, how did he look today? Did not have a chance to watch the game all that closely.

Not sure what that means but a decade or two ago we would get all the best linemen in the northwest. Now they leave for places like the ones i mentioned and even the Oregon schools.
Total minutia here and evidence i can fit Jake Locker into any discussion, Schilling played for Bellevue when they beat Jake's Ferndale team when locker was a junior only to lose the next year in the rematch of the two teams. Bored yet?

Glad to hear it. I think he's my guy for who the Patriots should choose at DE this year.

Watt's a junior... calling him a one year wonder can be applied to basically every single underclassman DEnd... this is when you start really coming on.
I think Watt will stay and have another good season next year before hitting the draft.

Was just joking around. The media makes it seem like you have to have an "in" in one of those places to get the best recruits.....while in most other states, if you just recruited that state hardcore and didn't let anyone good get out, you could still field a good team in most cases.

Wisconsin was 1-17 in their last 18 in Ann Arbor. St. Richard with another gracious act of charity

Kept everything inside from his defensive end postion and then started to assert himself late to make some big plays. His hands are so strong when he gets a hold of someone the play's over.

Didn't Schilling's team end De La Salle's streak?

I don't think there are any kind of winning streaks or records still intact since he showed up.

Buddy Ryan could have been coaching that defense and it wouldnt have mattered.

Yeah, I only really got a look at him early. Saw him beat a chip and move laterally to make a tackle, but he was pretty quiet when I saw him. If he stay, he could be on helium watch for next year. Then again, could rise big time if he comes out this year too.
Right on cue, Watt kills someone.

Congrats to Denard Robinson for becoming the first player in NCAA history to join the 1500/1500 club. He also broke the FBS record for rushing yards by a quarterback.

I'm in agreement with a lot of people who think the 3-3-5 in the Big Ten is just ********, especially against the Wisconsins and Iowas of the world, plus Nebraska next year.

I doubt he stays, he's probably along with Cameron Heyward the best 3-4 DEs going forward and i'd take Watt over Heyward at this point.

Yup, that's a big part of the issue. RR is also miscasting a lot of guys(IE; Craig Roh) in that scheme.

That's a source of the problem too....even the best players in that kind of defense will struggle in a conference with elite rushing teams.

Really uncommonly good class for 3-4 DE. I do think Watt puts himself up as the best out of the bunch in the end though. Crick and Bailey will probably grade out well too.

Look at those 330lb linemen, 260lb tight ends, and a 250lb running back. MORE CORNERS

How I think I'd rank them right now:
1.) Dareus - Top 10 pick
2.) Cameron Jordan - Mid First
3.) Nick Fairley - Mid First (not his best fit but he could definitely do it)
4.) Cameron Heyward - Late First
5.) Allen Bailey - Late First (Not as high on him as a 3-4 DE as some)
6.) JJ Watt - Late First-Early 2nd
7.) Jared Crick - Early 2nd
I wouldn't personally take Clayborn or Bowers to be an end if I ran the 3-4, some might.

He was a junior that year i believe, De Castro was probably a freshman. had a great back then named JR Hasty who has since transferred from the UW.
