Tebow doesn't have the athletic advantages that Young had, and while Young's mechanics weren't good, his release wasn't so terribly slow.
In that offense, you have to have a quick release otherwise the DBs will eat you alive. It's all based on timing.
Another thing is that Tebow wasn't drafted to be the starter in any short-term stretch of time. They have Orton and they like Orton a ton. That team wants to win, and the coaching staff doesn't want to confuse the lockerroom on who the QB of the team is.
What they're doing is smart. Just because they're not winning doesn't mean that you throw the guy you've been protecting into the fire because the fans are mad. They have to do what's best for Tim Tebow, and we should all respect that considering McDaniels's track record with developing QBs.
