Is Jason Garrett a hot coaching candidate around the league if he leaves Dallas?
I just wanted to get a feel from other fan bases, mostly other teams who are slated for a coaching change in 2011. What do you think of him as a coaching candidate for your team?

I don't think so. I think he'll either be the HC in Dallas or an OC somewhere else.

I think he missed his time to be the hot candidate. Theres gonna be a lot of open jobs this offseason, but I think we're going to see a good amount of coaches getting recycled as well. He could get a couple looks given the amount of spots that are likely to be open.

I see him as potentially being a head coach in the league, but I think he'll have to coordinate if not Dallas just because it seems like there are more logical connections to make between other organizations and head coaching candidates. Right now if I had to guess I'd say Jeff Fisher is going to coach Dallas next year.

Wouldn't be terribly interested in him for the Bears, no.

You know that's interesting, because he probably is gonna get fired and Jerry really is gonna let there be an open interview process. I can see that as a darkhorse, and I'd gladly take him over Garrett.
Nobody is perfect and all of these guys have their flaws, but Garrett calling plays is gonna be the demise of this team numerous times, even if the discipline of the team improves which it probably will. I don't know that I can be ok with the hire knowing that, as much as he did start to win me over down the stretch.

I dont see him leaving Dallas one way or the other. I think Jerry goes after a defensive minded coach again( Am I the only one who think Rob Ryan would do wonders with this defense?). Garrett has gotten the offence to be productive with Kitna but the defense has barely gotten better. Get Ryan as the HC, draft PP, Prince, Quinn or Fairley and see what happens

I think the best thing for him long term would be to get out of Dallas whatever way he needs to. Not really sure I can completely reason it out, but I would feel a lot more comfortable with him as a head coaching candidate seeing what he can do as a coordinator somewhere else for at least a year.

I'd take him as the new Phins OC. But that's it. Wouldn't want him as a HC.

The Dolphins are a possibility. It all depends on Carl Peterson there. How likely are they to replace their head coach? Could you see Brian Billick coaching there? I'd say he counts as a pretty big name and Mike Nolan would stay on as defensive coordinator provided he can't become a head coach somewhere else. What about Nolan getting the promotion?

Alot of the local media/ ESPN guys dont see Sparano coming back next year. I wouldnt mind seeing him go but if the team looks good playing the Pats, then I could see Ross keeping Sparano for another year to prove himself.
But if he does get fired and IF Ross does hire Peterson(dear god plz dont) then the guy who will probably be his #1 target will be Cowher. Ross wants a big name coach and I believe Peterson and Cowher has some history together. If not Cowher, then Gruden is the #2 option IMO.

I don't think anyone is going to hire him if Dallas lets him go
He should get a shot eventually I would think, but he'll have to go be an OC somewhere else for another year or two
edit: FWIW I think Leslie Frazier would have a better shot of getting hired elsewhere if they both get let go by their current teams

There is talk about Sparano coming back to Dallas to be the OC and Offensive Line Coach if Garrett keeps the HC job. Alot of Cowboy fans would be open to Garrett being the HC if he gave up play-calling duties but it's unlikely to happen, so there is probably the biggest problem you have for most.
Just as 1 scenario I think is realistic, I would be happy about bringing Garrett back if Sparano was the OC and Dom Capers was the DC. I think that would be a good mix.

Garrett has always been more of a HC than an OC. He got pegged into the OC job inadvertently. The plan has always been that Garrett would be the HC, but something went arye at some point. He's not that great of a playcaller, but I think he'll be a damn good HC.

I think Garrett needs an OC who can be a voice of reason in his ear during the games. Garrett might be fine calling plays if he had someone who occasionally said, "hey asshole, don't throw a screen on 3rd and long, you're not Red-headed Jesus"
