Someone show me where people predicted the Pats to not have anywhere between 10-12 wins.

Todd Haley or Bill Belicheck. No one else even compares. It will be one of those two, and I honestly can't pick between them.
The Pats are the best team in the NFL in a legitimate rebuilding year. Belichick is getting it done with young playcallers and no formal OC or DC. He's completely rearranged how things are done in New England...and they're still winning. People had the Jets and Dolphins finishing ahead of the Patriots this year...
The Chiefs won the AFC West in a building year. Todd Haley's an honest guy. He doesn't play smoke and mirrors games with the media, and the first thing he says every week is "We're not a good team yet." The mentality change in Kansas City alone is just phenomenal. This is going to be a good team for a long time. This team is extremely reminiscent of the 2001 Pats' squad. Almost exactly (sans the QB situation...sort of). The Pats drafted Richard Seymour #6 overall in the prior draft, the Chiefs drafted Eric Berry #5 overall... The Chiefs, like the '01 Pats, use misdirections and unpredictability to get things done on offense and disguise defensive alignments to keep opposing offenses at bay.

Where's the poll here?
My vote goes to Todd Haley. Nobody expected the Chiefs to come close to winning a division.
Tampa Bay's Raheem Morris gets my runner-up vote, followed by Green Bay's Mike McCarthy.
To recap:
#1- Haley
#2- Morris
#3- McCarthy
#4- Love Smith
#5- Mike Smith

Most fans were expecting a rebuilding year but instead he's build one of the youngest and best teams in the league. I really can't say enough about the job he's done this year, this might be his best coaching season ever (even better than 2007 and 2008).

That's just not true. However unfair it may be, the Pats still do have a HOF QB, and even if you gave them Wade Phillips as their HC there is a good chance they would win the division still. Somebody like Raheem Morris has the Bucs about to make the playoffs and they are relying at rookies at premiere positions to win games.
I don't mind BB getting the nod, but I completely disagree if you think nobody is even close considering coaches like Morris had alot less to work with and are just as successful right now.
Hell even Haley beating the Chiefs to win that division on a team who was still supposed to be rebuilding is close or superior to BB. We've had the argument of who gets more credit BB or Brady, but they go hand in hand. It may not always be fair to one or the other to show how good they really are but there are coaches who are doing just as impressive of a job if you actually look into what they are doing not just your own team.

That team would fall apart under Phillips and Morris. Belichick runs everything. Phillips has proved that he can't do it, and I give Morris a zero percent chance of being able to handle BB's job. Haley would probably be able to handle it, but only because he already does so in KC - for the most part.
People take for granted what Belichick does and has done over the past decade.

Sure. Anyone who predicted the Dolphins to make the playoffs along with the Jets. There was a ton of that early in the year. Wouldn't take long to go through some pre-season picks to see that. We were supposed to be in a bridge year this year and be an 8 or 9 win team and this was the Jets division to lose, supposedly.

I don't care what the Bears record is, Lovie Smith belongs nowhere near a coach of the year thread.

How exactly are you ranking McCarthy 3rd? Before the start of the season people were saying that the Packers were favourites for the Super Bowl, that it was between them and the Vikings for the division with an edge towards the Packers.
If the Bears win on Sunday I don't see how this season will be seen as anything but a massive failure?
Anyway, Lovie doesn't deserve COY at all as Monomach already pointed out, the Bears have had their success this season in spite of Lovie Smith as opposed to because of him.

Are you serious? Most of this board predicted that the Patriots would miss the playoffs. Some even predicted that they'd finish third in the division.

Tons of worthy candidates this year, but I gotta be a homer and go with my guy Rah. Everyone may not agree with what he says in his press conferences, but it definately works for the team. The Bucs were the first team in history to have a winning record while starting 10 rookies. Rah has been doing it with practice squad players and rookies. The O-line is currently starting 1 player who was starting at the beginning of the year(including two rookies and two first year starters). At one point the Bucs were starting 3 7th round rookies. Rah has dealt with the suspension of the defences best player(Tanard) and an injury to its second best player(Tailb). Not to mention how well he handled the whole Mike Williams "DWB" thing, all while rightfully putting all his trust into a second year QB. The guy has just been great all year and really instilled confidence and "swagger" into the second youngest team in the league and led them to a winning record.

Which ones were those again?
But seriously, Haley. He's just so damn ballsy.

People are discounting Morris because of the lack of quality of teams that the Bucs have beat, but its not like the Chiefs have beaten anyone good either, their best win is against the Jags starting Todd Bouman

Yeah, or the Chargers. And we were competitive in our games against big competition, except the one game against the Chargers where Cassel was out. Can't say the same for the Bucs.

You clearly missed both Falcons games and the Ravens game. Sure they got blown out by the Steelers and the Saints but they really improved since then. I'd also rather get blown out by the Saints than the McD and the Broncos.

I would vote for Belichick. They've done some really innovative things on offense this year. Part of this goes into him doing such a good job picking players and building his team too, not just his onfield coaching. I don't think the COTY should always go to a team who was awful last year and a playoff team the next either. Haley has done well in KC and Smith in Chicago, but they also just brought in Crennel and Weis in KC and Martz in Chicago and those hirings have made a huge difference for both teams. Those guys plus Morris are deserving, but I think what Mike Smith and Bill Belichick are doing this year is more impressive.

I don't know how McCarthy isn't getting mentioned here, especially if the Packers made the playoffs. He runs one of the most productive offenses in the league and if he makes the playoffs it will be incredibly impressive with all the injuries we've had.
Please, we are all sick of the Packers injury jokes. It's going to come up from time to time. I apologize on behalf of Packer fans if we whined about it at times. It's not funny to quote this and say "wait, the Packers had injuries?". And now that I wrote this, someone definitely will, and no one will laugh.

Whatever, I knew a negative response was coming, and if you're still laughing at the same joke that started 2 months ago, then enjoy it I guess. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't annoyed at how mentioning the biggest storyline of the Packers season gets quoted 3 times with the same joke that I've read 100 times now.

I never thought it was that funny to begin with. Every team has injures and every year there is "that" team that has more than others. Maybe I missed the joke or something.
