Btw, when the Giants haven't faced a backup qb this season, our defense has been 25th in the league. Still awful. So yeah.

Our trenches are awful. We need to retool the OL and DL.
Fewell's contract is up after this season I believe and if he is brought back it would be a huge mistake. If we finish 5-11 or 6-10 then both Fewell and Gilbride have to go. Fans have been upset with them for years and after a season like this there needs to be some changes. Gilbride is the most predictable OC in the league and Fewell is god awful. Coughlin stays, everyone else can go

Albert got abused by Von Miller and then got hurt in the one game I watched. Pass.

I'm cautious about what we should do at WR until I see if there's a scheme change.

I'm really hoping we see both coordinators changed. Will we? I doubt it.

Who doesn't get abused by Von Miller?

Overall he's been pretty good. My concern is health with him.

I don't see any reason why you'd extend Eli. This season has been so horrendous for him, I don't really see why you'd give him more guaranteed money just to clear a buck or 2 this year. There is a good chance he'll bounce back, but there is no sense in gambling with that until he shows he can bounce back.

We've seen Eli for 10 years now.

Here's the thing with Eli: When it's good, it's GREAT. And when it's bad, it's UGLY.

This year was ugly. He'll bounce back, and when he does, it will be great. There's no medium with the guy.

I see no signs of physical wear and tear on him, quarterbacks like him are hard to find, we should extend him sooner than later so it gives us more money to retool with sooner.

If we want to keep him in one piece though, we need a new OL in front of him. This OL has clearly made him skittish, his mechanics have gone to crap, he has fallen into terrible habits, he's feeling ghost pressure, his confidence in what's happening around him is nonexistent.

If we're gonna compete, we need to fix the OL around him. Asap.

Eli is in the last year of his desl.

So we either extend him, let him play out the last year if his deal (the followong offseason gets real interesting if we have to choose between frsnchising Eli or JPP) or we extend him.

Dont under estimate tge value of a franchise QB ans Eli has been involved with some of the most explosive offenses in franchuse history.

When was the last time any team signed the top 3 FA's available? Also, not all 3 will even hit FA.

Move Pugh inside to G. We must must must get a LT. It's a must. Whether it's Albert in FA or we draft a Jake Matthews or whoever else is available, we need a LT in the worst way. It's easily our biggest need.

Center is our 2nd biggest need. Guard might be our 3rd.

Long story short, we need OL. We literally have 1 OLmen worth a damn in Pugh. And you just have to pray that Beatty can salvage his career at RT which gives us 2 OLmen.

On the DL, we need a pass rusher. We need an OLB. We need a CB.

I feel like with some smart maneuvering in the offseason we can bounce back, and with some system changes we'll be ok, but they have to have a solid gameplan in place.
Im not a fan of signing Albert. He is going to ge big money and at 29 eill be a stop gap at best.

I want to get younger guys tgat we can build around for 4-5 years. That's probably our window with Manning and Coughlin.

I just want 2 OLmen. Either in the draft, or FA, or both, we need to get 2 OLmen this offseason.

We need an OLB too. JWill hasn't panned out. We need a stud OLB. Shazier would be perfect.

When did we last have a lot of cap room?

By all means let's stick with what we traditionally do. It obviously worked...

Actually we have been aggressive with big name signings with guys like Canty, Rolle, Baas, Pierce, Burress

That's pretty much my thinking.

I like the idea of Asamoah and Saffold in free agency

As for LBs in the draft, one guy I like as an OLB is Christian Jones

I am expecting a mix of solid good value free agents to be honest

I totally agree we need to reload,

We probably have a window of around 5 years with both coughlin and manning

We should look to younger solid veteran free agents that we can build around.

We have a rare opportunity to reload and set us up for the next few years.

That would be fantastic if we could, but it won't be cheap.

Also JPP will be inline for a similar contact after the 2014 season

cap wise it could happen if we wanted it to

A litte more Giants' 2014 salary cap economics looking at the numbers further

Bases on my previous post if we cut Snee, Baas, Myers, Rolle, Kiwanuka and Webster (Baas, Kiwanuka designated as post june) plus extend Eli..

We would have 29 players under contract and around $48m in salary cap room + another $5.8 after June 1

For training camp the entire 80 man squad counts against the cap, once the season starts its the 53 man roster (+ IR)

If the 27 practice squad players cost on average $500k each, thats a total of $13.5m

this would mean we have $34.5m for the 24 players needed for the final roster. + $5.8m after June 1

At least 6 of these players will be rookies, we will likely need somewhere around $6m to sign them so we would have $28.5m available for 18 players
+$5.8m after June 1

once the season starts we would regain the practice squad investment of $13.5m for the season

for the reference, William Beatty's first year cap number is $3,550,000 and Victor Cruz's first year cap number is $2,530,000

i highly doubt he leaves Carolina. Especially with that front. Lawdy they're nasty. I loved both their DT's in the draft

It will come down to money. Hardy has already rejected a four-year, $32 million extension.

Hardy is probably looking at a similar deal to the the six-year, $76 million deal (including $32 million guaranteed) that Charles Johnson got.
