Not sure. Depends on what they want to do. If the OC is creating his own, or will it be a mix of two systems. What program software will they use? Does McAddo have his playbook, if he created one, saved?

It all depends..

NYG, do you think they'd keep/scrap some play depending on the personnel? Would they make changes depending on offseason moves?

Well you can keep the same plays but you change progressions and the WR rules so that they are easier. You can reduce the 5 and 7 step passing concepts and add a lot more variety. You don't need to scrap everything.

If it's a new system and he wants other passing concepts from various colleges and pro teams then he can scrap existing plays and add other stuff. Again it all depends.

Does he have a playbook created already for the day he ever became an OC? All you need is a computer software or even on power point. The guy has two notebook full of ideas. So did he ever create a formal playbook using those ideas in hopes of utilizing them once he became an OC?

Does he add existing plays? So much can happen and is in the air.

I don't know anything about him. He could change stuff based on personnel. He very well could have a huge playbook and utilize parts based on personnel. Again, we'd need to hear more from him when asked by our beat writers.

Will we learn how to screen? If we weren't the worst RB screen team ever, I don't want to see who was.

I like the addition of Ben McAdoo, Danny Langsdorf and

Oregon State’s offense ranked 30th in the FBS this past season in points scored at 34.8 per game, and the passing attack was the third most-prolific in the nation at an average of 372.6 yards. Last year, the Beavers put up 5,610 total yards of offense, No. 2 on the school’s all-time list.

I am curious to see how the offense shakes out over the offseason, there will be substantial changes.

I guess we should keep an eye out on these players for the draft mix (and Scott's rankings)

WR Brandin Cooks, Oregon St (#37)
DE Scott Crichton, Oregon St (#63)

I'm hoping that we'll become a better screen team now. Just like anything else, the effective plays we will run are the ones we practice the most. Practice and repetition leads to improved execution.

I think we're an awful screen team because we don't practice it enough. Running an effective screen is more complicated than it looks. You can't give any tells as an OLmen or else they'll read it right away, the qb needs to do a better job of throwing it accurately and in stride, and RBs need to practice catching it and patiently running behind the OLmen.

We are awful executing every single part of the screen pass, and if we want to get better at it we better practice it a ton. Eli lacks short accuracy so he's gonna have to work on this.

Eli has to really work on the little things this offseason. Work on his footwork, his mechanics, and his short and intermediate accuracy.

Eli never had to utilize short term passing concepts in our system. The irony is he can hit the long ball very well, but short term accuracy wasn't there. However that's fine because we never really had that in our passing concepts, short term concepts that is.

Everytime practice training camp reports were out every play was deep ball down the side line to... burress, RR, Cruz, Hixon.. and so on. People need to realize once the system changes you will practice the core plays or core passing concepts of the system.

So now if there are more screens in the system or core plays, you will practice that a lot more. We used to do this when I coached and I used to subscribe to various coaching journals and such. Coaches used to talk about this in length, and then branch off to how to create the call sheet used on game day.

Fascinating stuff actually. But I expect things to change for the better.

In other news Gilbride Jr to coach TEs. Hahaha. Bye to Pope and move the other fool over.

Sean Ryan is the WR Coach and Kevin Gilbride Jr is the TE coach

Quote:
New York Giants quarterbacks coach Sean Ryan will now coach the team's wide receivers. Kevin M. Gilbride, who coached the wide receivers in 2012 and 2013, will now work with the tight ends. - See more at: http://kffl.com/hotw/NFL?page=0#sthash.z0dkuYsL.dpuf
That means Pat Flahrety (O-line), Lunda Wells (ast O-Line) and Ryan Roeder (off Ast) are the only offensive staff in the same positions as last year.

Interestingly Roeder spent three years coaching tight ends at Princeton

He's buddies with Gilbride Jr. which is how he got the job. My friend and his wife are friends.

A Giant beatwriter, I forget which one, made an interesting observation about all our coaching hires:

All 3 guys have qb coaching experience. This offseason is all about Eli. And one thing that Coughlin has stressed is how all guys are big on fundamentals and stress fundamentals.

I like it. A lot. I don't want to get too excited about the changes we made on offense bc I'm afraid of getting let down, but so far you can't help but get excited about the changes.

Another telling sign is how all coaches have been described as "adaptable" and guys who can adjust.

Sounds like that was a major issue with the old staff, their unwillingness to adjust. Of course we've been saying this for damn near 10 years now.

I just wish we saw the same changes on our defensive coaching staff. But this is good enough for now.

I noticed that about QB experience as well, add in Ryan and we 4 guys with experience coaching QBs.

I think it will translate into the passing game.

I also like how GB mixed in zone blocking and power blocking schemes, hopefully we do something like that.

The biggest priority is to add talent on the Oline, but I quite confident with that and there are plenty of options.

I am getting pretty excited about our offense to be honest. I really can't wait until free agency.

I would like to have seen defensive changes as well, but I will settle for improved talent.

One of the key priorities needs to be for us to get younger, healthier and get our salary cap under control

I haven't seen it posted here (unless I missed it), but it does deserve mention.

David Diehl has retired from football.

I have to say he has been a heck of a player for NYG for 11 years. He wasn't the most gifted player, but he was a hard working, physical guy that for almost his entire career got the job done.

yeah, we're gonna miss DD. Shame he became a shell of his former self on the field but class act and true giant.

Sounds like that was a major issue with the old staff, their unwillingness to adjust. Of course we've been saying this for damn near 10 years now.

I just wish we saw the same changes on our defensive coaching staff. But this is good enough for now.

Actually I was thinking about this. Our defense prior had some pretty god awful seasons, yet we haven't seen a major shake up at all. One big time epic bad year and this was a major offensive shakeup.

Like I said though, we had record setting bad years on defense recently and still no major shakeup.

Yeah it's a shame, but unfortunately for us, Fewell had a good year. So we're stuck with him.

I just don't like his defense. I'll admit he did a good job this year, but his blitzes are so awful, and I hate his zone concepts. I'm just not a fan of his philosophy.

But since we're stuck with him, we might as well draft players to fit his scheme. We draft players to fit the Spagnuolo scheme and then throw them in Cover 2, and that's a big part of the problem as well. As long as we're a Cover 2 defense, let's draft talent built for that scheme.

Good points on our scheme BBD, we do need to bring in the right kind of players for our system.

The key player for us will be resigning Joseph imho.
