Holliday seems like he either takes it to the house or fumbles. Surprised TC would be ok with him.

DRC and Prince give us a great duo

RIP your turnover ratio.

congrats on DRC. i loved the guy. if you can get him to play, he can be one of the best dbs in the league, imo. i'd have rather kept him than rented talib for a year (or whichever 3 games he's healthy and not suspended for this year).

Kiwanuka took a pay cut

his 2014 base salary has been reduced from $4.375 million to $1.5 million.

I just looked at the roster at Giants.com

They list McClain at ILB and Beason at OLB

The others are listed at LB

OT (6): Beatty, Pugh, Brewer, Mosely, Kropog, Baker

OG (4): Schwartz, Snee, Goodin, Hermann

OC (2): Walton, Reynolds

Defense - 30 players

DE (4): Pierre-Paul, Kiwanuka, Moore, Adams

ILB (3): McClain, Herzlich, Bradford

OLB (4): Beason, Paysinger, Williams, Adkins

CB (9): Amukamara, Rogers-Cromartie, Thurmond, McBride, Hosley, James, Howard, Weaver, Laron

I wonder if the plan is to use Beason in a similar role to how we (and the Bills) used Kawika Mitchell?

Remember we'll likely have 15 rookies between draft picks and UDFAs.

7.8 mil a year, although quite a bit of guaranteed money (which is probably the reason why he signed on the dotted line). I feel as though Thurmond should be kept on the field in the 3rd safety/NB role and we play with two LB's as our base per usual.

This defense has potential to have major scheme versatility, running the 4-3/3-4 hybrid that Seahawks ran and Ravens used to run under Sexy Rexy. This is why I truly believe we brought in McClain.

It makes sense that we would attempt to do this because our passrush has taken a major plummet and the college game (running 3-4's) lends itself to the outside rush backer prospects. To avoid the transistions this scheme allows for us to adapt to our players:

Hankins- not a penetrator, but a technician in a 1 technique.

Beason- a minor liability in coverage but a boss run defender

Jenkins- a versatile DLmen that is pretty well rounded but not athletic enough to be a full blown 4-3 DE.

JPP- very quick, good bend, a prototypical 4-3 end with some extra athleticism

Rolle- best in the box with ability to cover slot/intermediate and one of our best and most reliable tacklers last season

JWill- not a great run defender due to being smaller he is hard to pass as a WILL but could be used to cover and blitz the side where Jenkins would be on

Hill- a capable deep safety, not so sure I trust him to be in cover 1 too often.

McClain- versatile, smart, good intangibles and although isn't a star good lunchpailer

Moore- a very good rushbacker for A&M that is lighter than what most 4-3 ends are usually, can stand up and offer some ability in zone coverage.

very true, but we don't have enough bodies for camp at DT, DE, LB and TE

I wouldn't be surprised if some DBs and WRs get cut after the draft

We must be right up on the cap since we never re-worked Eli and Rolle's deals.

Good summary. Don't forget Stevie Brown is back also and he'll probably be in the 3rd S role. We're going to try to limit using our LB's as much as possible except for Beason.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if we mix it up using elements from those schemes.

There has been some chatter about Jenkins playing some LDE as well. We haven't gone after a stud DE. We could have made a play for Michael Johnsom or Michael Bennett, instead we have majorly overhauled our secondary.

I would like to see us look into trading for Bengals backup TE Jermaine Gresham. I imagine it would cost similar to the 5th round pick we gave for Rivers.

He is in the last year of his rookie deal, we would get him for a 1 year $3,610,750 deal.

My bad, I would think that he would be deep safety, but I don't know how reliable he would be to take away the top, he seemed pretty good though two years ago.

Yeah, this is another indicator of our vision for next year. I do think this a good reason why we got Thurmond (being put in the same role but more money) and DRC who will likely be our Sherman but (I personally believe) with more man coverage skill and closing on the ball.

The one thing that is iffy for me is that, if we commit to this scheme, we need to target another rushbacker because I think Kiwi is best fit as the traditional 4-3 DE

Think about what the Seahawks typically do, I could see us using some of these looks with JPP and Jenkins as the 5 Tech LDE and JPP, Kiwanuka and Moore in the LEO style role.

The Seahawks defense has Tampa 2 roots (as does our system)

The 2 DEs we have been looking were Arthur Jones and Robert Ayers, both bigger bodies.

Then we tried to sign O'Brien Schofield who most recently was from Seahawks (and did sign Thurmond).

The Seahawks defense has been built around shutting down the run and a quality secondary. I could see something like that here.

Am I the only one not excited about DRC?

I've always felt he's never been that special, to be honest. Hope it's not a huge deal.

I am excited about it

Adam Shefter is reporting that Giants are giving CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie a 5-year, $39M deal, including $15M guaranteed, per source.

That's a lot. I don't think he's a good corner. Kinda upset by the move.

$15 mil guaranteed really not that much. DRC was good everywhere except Philly. Him and Prince compliment each other well.

He wasn't that great in Arizona from what I recall either.
