Williams has not signed with the Giants yet.

We might just keep Painter and Nassib. I don't think Flynn ever made it here because he worked a deal out with the Pack.

I rather Rice and Williams. I'm not sure where the cap number is but I can't imagine us having enough to sign all three.

I think it is somewhere around $4.5m+ at the moment.

Rice and Williams are likely near minimum deals so not a huge cap impact.

I imagine Freeman is looking at most in the ballpark of his deal last year which was worth $2.8m, which considering it replaces a minimum contract probably costs $2.3m against the cap. Any deal is likely to be incentive laden.

We have $5m freed up after June 1 from Baas's departure. Over the cap estimates it will cost $2,558,164 in cap room to sign our rookies.

Yea I hope this isn't for anything more than minimum. Williams would have contributed a lot more than Freeman. Doesn't say anything good about Nassib here also as far as I'm concerned so could be yet another mid round waste pick.

No.. If Luck was there fine. LOL. Or a big time QB prospect. Not for this batch of players with clear cut player.

Just media stupidity. I don't see people saying that about other QBs like Peyton or Ben or someone like that.

Big Pete specific plays from when I watched Donald.

Here are some specific plays:

UM vs Pitt

1st Q 14:34 2and 4
RG and C

1st Q 5:17 3rd and 1
Down block to the right by #75 and 65. Rb mistake doesn't use vision to see the gap and runs into traffic

2nd 10:04 2nd and 20

Power concept LG pulls
Not as bad

4th 15:00 2nd and 7
3 yards off ball

4Q 4:23 1st and G
3y to the right

#65

FSU and Pitt

Just on this and I wish I had the whole normal game. Also, with an edited box or arrow on the player. This is why I hate doing scouting and game breakdowns without coaches tape, wide shot and tight shot angles. It makes everything so much harder.

1st 9:01 2nd and 4
Drive block

To be fair not sure if it says 97 or 87. I swear it said 87, but that's Reggie Green wr, so not sure.

2nd Q 14:17 1st and goal
#54 down block and seals him 2-3 yards to the right.

So based on what you say it's not bad. I was talking more in general. I am sure if I watched more games and had access to better angles I can find explosive plays and bad plays for him. That I am confident in.

I don't think Freeman signing means much at all for Nassib. The front office really likes him.

I think Freeman is more veteran insurance in case Eli can't go in camp.

Freeman could do ok under Coughlin, he will have to adapt to us which he knows coming in.

Nice wrap up.

I am still a little each way on Donald. I am not a big fn at #12. If he lasts until the bottom on the first, we should trade up though.

I would consider it.

Eli is a franchise QB but he is 33. He does have a shot at another ring. But if we are rebuilding then you have to think on things.

I think fans forget what it was like before Eli. We have had consistency from the position for a decade.

if you did, it would likely be for Clowney. The other advantage is around $15m in cap savings.

personally I wouldn't, I think we have a good shot for a playoff run with Eli and Coughlin. But I can see the point of view.

I would seriously consider it though. I do think the front office view Nassib as Eli's potential replacement.

I feel like the Donald analysis has been beat over and over and is now just regurgitated info. So to close the book for me, I'll say this, for our team I don't think he's a top 20 pick. He'll be a very good situational player who can cause some havoc on certain downs. I love his nonstop motor and I'm sure he won't bust but he isn't a consistent 3 down DT. 12 is too high for him.

It really depends if we feel Clowney is a once a lifetime type player and can we get similar production from Freeman, Nassib, and a rookie?

It definitely lowers our percentage of making the playoffs but by how much? In 10 seasons Eli has helped get us to the playoffs 5 times which isn't bad but only once in the last 5 years. Is his contract now crippling the team and out weighing his play?

Very good points.

Also do the front office feel that Nassib is ready to take the next step? I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up breaking out ala Kapernik, Foles or Wilson.

Trading Eli clears $13,400,000 in cap room for 2014 and $19,750,000 in cap room for 2015.

The cap savings can be used to address a few needs post draft, or we can use it to lock up guys like Amukamara, Pierre-Paul etc and not be in a position where we either have to use the franchise tag or risk losing them on the open market such as Joseph.

There are other options if we traded Eli to Houston for the #1 pick.

If we think Clowney is that stud prospect, he is the guy.

If we aren't sure we could also trade down for extra premium picks and look at a stud prospect like Robinson, Watkins etc and someone else.

Trading Eli for an elite talent and other premium picks in this draft would set us up for some time.

Eli for Clowney basically. Start Painter all year score another first overall pick draft Mariota/Winston. Profit for 10+ years.

You don't do that. QBs are too volatile in the draft. We have one now we know we can win with. I will guarantee that one of Mariota or Winston will be a bust.

I agree, I don't see it happening.

Interesting idea though, it is probably the best value we could get for Eli.

If there is concerns that he could rebound into one of the better QBs in the NFL and they believe Nassib, Freeman and Painter can get the job done then it becomes interesting. I don'r believe that is the case though.

I am not sure on Clowney to be honest, but if it happened, I would trade down and pick up more picks.

I will say this, I am pretty confident that Eli can rebound in a big way
