Anyone got a number on the oldest running back to take a handoff in the NFL? I imagine 36 has got to be pushing it. Even Emmitt Smith only played til he was 35.

Marcus Allen played until he was 37.

Marcus Allen was a pretty effective ballcarrier at 37. Tony Richardson is 39 right now and could probably play another year for someone, but being a lead blocker's quite a bit different than running with it.

Really "come on man" Your 35 years and you wanna come back?Don't do it and find a new career in broadcasting or coaching.I don't think the guy will have enough speed or bust to keep up with today's RB.You NFL players need to learn how to manage your dam money more so you don't have to come out of retirement and stop going broke!!!

Absolutely no one is going to want him as a broadcaster after the debacle of a first run, and he would be a terrible coach because he's an arrogant asshole with a lack of knowledge.

And after he burned his old teammates hardcore there's not a player in the league that would respect a thing he said.

Tiki ****** himself. He needs to find a new career.

I agree with everything but the last one. I don't know what specific offense you think Tiki only fits in.

Why not? There is no risk to just bringing him into camp. If he doesn't have anything left, it will be obvious and they'll just cut him.

I'd rather use the roster spot on some undrafted rookie from East Texas Baptist University than Tiki Barber. He'd at least have a chance to earn his way to the practice squad. Why bother with Barber when you know you're going to cut him anyway.

tiki barber has been too busy smoking hash and tripping on peyote to realize how much of an idiot he actually is.

Because he's really old and will be a locker room cancer from all reports of his personality. Granted, he'll probably play nice to get a contract but people always return to form. Always.

I wouldn't risk screwing up my locker room for an old RB desperate for a payday.

Eh, he wasn't a locker room cancer until after he left. Plus plenty of teams give a whole ton of money to locker room cancers every year. You do realize this is the NFL we are talking about. He will definitely get try outs with some teams.

Yeah, if they're good. Tiki Barber is a 36 year old runningback who hasn't played football in 4 years. There's absolutely zero chance of him being good enough to make the final roster cuts. There is no reason to bring him in, and I hope no teams are dumb enough to do so.

People are saying that a prospect will automatically get preference over Tiki because of their potential, but if Tiki's anything near his 2006 form he's going to have some value. The whole hullaballoo about his retirement was from the fact that he clearly could have played a couple more years. I'm not saying I'd want him on my team, but that's because we don't have any need for him. The Bucs have been thrown around as a possibility, and I could see that happening. I could see him as an upgrade over Cadillac and a decent compliment to LeGarrett Blount. If someone's only looking for a third-down back to play for the veteran's minimum, they could probably do worse for a one-year contract. I mean, Edgerrin James still got another contract after being cut from Arizona, and he'd looked washed up for a few years already. I'm not a fan, but I'd be pretty surprised if Tiki doesn't get any camp invites. I think he'll probably play this year. Ronde's still playing well, and they do have the same genes, after all. He's not going to have 2000 yards from scrimmage, but I'd bet on him logging some stats in 2011.

He's 36 and hasn't played football in 4 years. It's not a "if" he's near his 2006 form, it's a there's no way in hell he's an NFL player.

They could do worse if they took a middle school kid, but there's a very very long list of NFL runningbacks available that are better than a 36 year old Tiki Barber.

Edgerrin James was 5 years younger and didn't take 4 years off prior to that.

They play complete different positions. 36 for a runningback is a hell of a lot older than 36 for a defensive back. Oh, and for the 100th time, Ronde didn't take 4 years off.
