I think Suter, Garrison, Carle, Wideman all get BIG money. There's enough teams wanting them to give each of them a huge contract. All I said was he must have really been content with Calgary. It's a curious decision to sign so quick rather than to explore your options.

I read that the cap for this summer is 70.2 million. I don't know what it will be once the CBA is announced closer to the season.

Looks like Sid is on the verge of a 9-figure extension.

12 years for 104.4 is the terms for Sid's contract. Same cap hit as he has now and took a discount to stay long term. Geno's contract is going to be similar next summer as well.

Nah, I think Malkin goes to UFA in 2014 and then eats up all the money left by the expiring contracts of Vanek, Pominville, and Miller.

If they lower the split from 57/43 to 50/50 that would drop the cap to around 62 mil.

I just don't like the whole situation. But him ending up with the Rangers or an Ontarian team won't help things.

I DO think he'll bust. It just seems like excessive hype and too much control given to a player who hasn't proven a damn thing in the pros.

Sidney Crosby is one superstitious sonofabitch.
Negotiated his contract at an average salary equating to his jersey number and birthdate.

He should have negotiated for a juggernaut helmet.

Also re-signing are Nikita Nikitin (restricted, but still a good move), Scott Nichol, and Brian Lee, who I often forget is still in the league.

Quickie and the Kings agree in principle on a 10 year deal, no terms announced yet. It's a looooong deal for a goalie, and I'm hoping the AVV is decent but JOY

Interesting defense core Columbus has going right now. JMFJ, Wisniewski, Tyutin, Nikitin, Murray, Methot, Moore, Savard. It's not necessary for Moore and Savard to be given a lot of NHL action right now, but obviously Howson has some dealing to do and I wonder if some of these names are being tossed around. No real need to, but Moore would be interesting if they could get a forward in return.

I guess the Wings have called Howson, but basically been told they'll never deal him within the division.
Which is why my response is MOVE DETROIT TO THE EAST! (just kidding, I don't even want that to happen, haha)
