I like how the Saints signed Jordan Black and then released Jon Stinchcomb. It's like they're saying, "We want one of the worst lineman in the league, but we'd rather have the cheaper one."

Juice Williams never quite caught on as the situational pass rusher....not even in the IFL.

Titans signed OT Adam Terry while RT David Stewart sits out a few preseason games due to a sore hamstring. /Link

Anyone who joined within the last two years has no idea what we're talking about and probably thinks we're all nuts, haha

Is Calais Campbell the greatest 3-4 nose tackle of all time yet?

Being from Pittsburgh, I know that the Steelers desperately tried to avoid waiving Gibson and hoped he'd clear. The team had ZERO depth at DE with both Aaron Smith and Brett Kiesel going down. With Gibson behind Harrison, Woodley, and Worilds, they gambled.

I'm not sure how Takeo Spikes fits into the equation. Gibson doesn't fit any criteria of an ILB. As for losing Lawson... They drafted Aldon Smith and signed Antwan Applewhite, so the numbers still don't favor Gibson.
I had high hopes but I feel his biggest downfall is that his ST ability wasn't good enough to earn him a shot at improving as a pass rusher.
Who knows though with the rumors the 49ers are interested in Maybin.

In 2008, the Jets used a first-round pick on linebacker Vernon Gholston, who became a colossal bust. He’s now a member of the Bears.
The following year, the Bills used a first-round pick on linebacker Aaron Maybin. They cut the cord after only two seasons.
Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that the Jets have offered Maybin, who cleared waivers earlier today, a one-year deal. Per Mehta, five or six other teams have made a similar offer.
Maybin, like Gholston, has no career sacks.

I thought Gholston had the one sack? Maybe I'm thinking tackles.

I'm surprised the 49ers haven't contacted the Bucs about QB Josh Johnson. It's obvious that Alex Smith is struggling and Colin Kapernick is going to take some time to adjust to the NFL.
Johnson was coached by Harbaugh in college and knows his offense. Johnson has really improved since from his 2nd year in the league. Last year, he was not accurate in practices and preseason and seemed to just jump out of the pocket and run when his 1st target wasn't there.
This year, I've noticed he's more calm in the pocket in TC and it showed against KC.
Maybe Tampa's asking price might be too steep? I mean, if the Eagles can get a 2nd round pick and starting CB for Kolb, I think any team feels the same way.

Apparently the Bucs aren't interested in trading him

Bucs quarterback Josh Johnson has quietly developed into one of the league’s more promising backups. Bucs G.M. Mark Dominik doesn’t intend to change that by sending Johnson elsewhere.
NFL.com’s Jason LaCanfora writes that the Bucs aren’t interested in trading Johnson.
|
I'd love to have him, but it depends on the asking price. At this point Harbaugh believes Kaepernick is the QBOTF, so we won't give up too much for Johnson, especially in a lockout shortened offseason. Hypothetically I'd say a 5th round pick would be fair for both sides- maybe throw in Taylor Mays or something.

No chance in hell we'd swap him for a 5th.
