But what about when just a couple of games are missed? As durable as a guy like Favre or Manning might be, a lot of it is just plain luck too. I understand your logic if he were to miss a whole season, but they should really have a better option on hand in case he just misses a few games.
Like, what if, as he's throwing, his hand comes down on the helmet of one of his lineman and he breaks a bone in it...misses 2-4 weeks. Those games in there could be the difference between being a top seed or missing the playoffs entirely. If you have a better backup, he might be able to keep you afloat. Curtis Painter would not keep the Colts afloat.

I would take broken hand Manning over most backup QBs.

Dominant defense and overpowering rushing attack??? I always thought it was Vince Young winning those games.

Collins can be adequate though. You aren't going to do much better for a pinch starter this late into the pre-season.

If you get him drinking again I think there's a real possibility you make the playoffs.

I always liked Ruvell Martin on the Packers... Thought he would get to go somewhere else where he could be more involved. Hasnt really turned out that way.

I'm glad we're giving it a shot. Barnett is the only one who has shown he deserves a spot in the middle. Andra Davis is far beyond his better days. Reggie Torbor blows. Arthur Moats is not a starter and hasn't looked as good as he did on the outside last year. There was hope that Kelvin Sheppard could come in and show the good stuff early so he could slot in there, but he missed pretty much all of training camp.

I'm surprised no one has signed Brian Waters.
I know he is 34 and his best football is behind him but I still feel he would be an upgrade for a few teams.

Jerry Angelo would argue that signing a veteran just takes practice reps away from the developing youngsters, so he won't sign him.

All of our receivers are injured and/or unproven. So, again, why not. I think we have what should be a better version of him in David Nelson, but anything is possible as long as Donald Jones is our #2.

Wow, I didn't realize how connected Collins was to Indy:

The Polians, of course, drafted me when I was in Carolina. [Receivers coach] Frank Reich, I played with in Carolina. There’s a lot of significant ties here that made it real attractive to come here.”

Frank Reich was a receiver coach?

At least average and never misses a game either. And I'm assuming after all this time, he must be getting a small 1 year contract, so it's a really good signing for the Bills. Anyone know why Moats is playing inside??

I think he's better then Montrae Holland who is 1 projected starter for us tentatively. I figured he would be a great 1 year gap for us at LG to bring David Arkin and Nagy along slowly instead of starting them right away. I figured he would be high up on our list.
