Not saying DHB is going to be a pro bowler or anything, but it looks like he he has really improved in the offseason. He looks more like a WR out there now, not a sprinter. He may never be our #1 go to guy, but in our offense we are a big play passing team and if DHB can be a down the field threat he will be really valueable.

Why hasn't he shown any of that in his first two years?

Where are you getting your #s? I have Ginn at only 10 career touchdowns, and only 6 of them have been receiving, only 2 more than Williamson had. :/

He did prove he had some worth as a returner (took four back for TDs) but given the context of the situation (Miami needing a QB bad and they passed on the consensus "best available"), and the money they invested in him, i would still put him in that grouping. As bad as DHB is, there is still hope. I think. I mean Roddy White looked just as bad as he did for about three years before he broke out, so i wouldn't write him off just yet.

edit - he actually has 12, two of them were rushing TDs that i overlooked.

Roddy White had more yards in his worst year, in 8 starts as a rookie, than DHB had in 14 starts last year. He also had more TDs that year than DHB has had in his career.

Ginn has been a serviceable return man in his career, which is far more than Williamson ever did.

Oh darn, we passed on Brady Quinn. If only!

This is true. In those few moments when he was healthy for the Vikes, he showed a lot of potential.

What does it matter if they are receiving touchdowns or not? He has four returning touchdowns and two touchdowns on runs. I got the # off his wikipedia article, so either something is missing, or whomever made the article was off. Either way, 12 > 4.

Also, the consensus on Brady Quinn was totally wrong, so I'm not sure that point really strengthens your argument. Quinn was arguably a bigger bust than Ginn.

The Vikings tried to replace Randy Moss with Troy Williamson. I'd say that's considerably worse.

Roddy White had 59 catches for 952 yards in his first two years. His third year is when he absolutely blew up.

DHB has 35 catches for 490. This is really his last chance.

Yes, pretty much. I wouldnt even trust him to cover TEs regardless of his athletic prowess.

It doesn't help that he's a deep threat on a team feature Jason Campbell, who seems to refuse to throw further than 5 yards down the field, and Trent Edwards who is Captain Checkdown, and Kyle Boller who can go deep but doesn't have the accuracy to hit him...and Pryor, just....lol at Pryor.

Plus the drops.

Seattle traded CB Kelly Jennings to Cincinnati in exchange for DT Clinton McDonald.

The fact that we got anything for Jennings is a win, considering everyone in Seattle wanted him cut outright. Maybe someday he'll learn to turn his head and look for the ball. Always has tight coverage, but opposing QBs just throw at him knowing he wont defend the pass. Jennings was a 1st rounder and in 5 seasons picked off 2 passes....wow.

I like Clinton a lot. He's not amazing or anything, not a future super star. But he tries hard and puts his time in. Good trade on Seattle's part.

Belichick on James Sanders in 2009:

"James is an excellent leader. He plays with a good level of confidence. He's a very good physical player. He's a tough kid. Football's important to him. He's a very committed player, spends a lot of time in the classroom, studying, learning, watching tape, making sure he knows his assignments. I think he's a leader for any young player, forget young player, for any player to emulate and follow. I think he's very professional and you would like to have 53 players like James on your team in terms of his work ethic, his toughness [and] being a teammate."

Any rumors on where he could end up besides the obvious of KC/ATL? I'd like to see him in Pittsburgh! Wouldn't be shocked if he ends up in Houston/Indy

Teams can now be fined if any of their players violate these rules:
Not sure how I feel about that...but think I'm leaning towards dislike.

You'll dislike this even more:

Quote:
Once players on a given team have accumulated $100,000 in fines for the various specified infractions in any season (from the first game of the preseason through the Super Bowl), the team must pay a fine of $50,000. For the next $50,000 in player fines, the team must pay another $25,000. After the cumulative fines reach $150,000 in a given season, the teamís fine matches the playerís fine at a dollar-for-dollar rate.

For suspensions, the playerís forfeited salary will be counted toward the teamís total fine amount, up to $50,000.

Trading or cutting a player doesnít wipe off his fine amounts, and the team cannot seek reimbursement from any player for the fines that the team must pay.
He also mentions teams losing draft picks after repeat violations, the equivalent of suspending players who are frequent offenders.
