Who the **** cares? Jesus, he's a free agent safety and wanted the most money possible. He's the umpteenth guy in all sports to do this.

Then you can expect a fanbase to be upset if he didn't choose them after showing so much interest in doing so.
No one says this has never happened before but likewise a fanbase can dislike the player for these tactics too.

I'd kind of understand if this was Peyton Manning we're talking about, but it's Reggie Nelson. He isn't even that good.

The Bengals have made some nice moves, keeping Nelson and bringing in Travelle Wharton to play guard. Corner is still an issue, but there are plenty of guys they can draft.

That's like hating other team's GMs for smokescreening before the draft.

The Bengals are in a nice position to really build a nice team through the draft. They could potentially get a player like DeCastro at 17 and pick up a CB at 21. Pick up an RB in the second.
Both Cinci and Cleveland are building through a young core of players. The Steelers and Ravens both have put a lot of stock into veterans. In the next couple years I think both the Steelers/Ravens will be at the bottom looking up.

I'd be surprised if DeCastro was around at 17.. his stock is at an all time high, but I get your point.

Point being, he's not even that good. He works well with Zimmer because Zimmer knows how to use him, and I doubt he'd be nearly as effective in New York.

Meh, they have enough cap that they should be making more noise. Like doing a mega up front deal to Mike Wallace and ******* over the Steelers, but Mike Brown is a cheap bastard and will never do such a thing.

Yea I actually think the Steelers are going to be in a bust team this next season. That o-line has yet to be addressed - they can talk up their guys as much as they want, Big Ben is the whole reason that team can really do anything by evading defenders and having them fall off him as he is able to make throws downfield. I don't really see anything good with Haley coming in as O-Coordinator. That defense is old too, they have two 30+ year old safeties and old CBs.

It will be interesting to see what Mike Brown (and Clark Hunt) do with the new CBA when they are forced to spend money.

The steelers need to petition the league to let them play with just 4 OL and send everyone else out to catch passes. Big Ben doesn't need blocking anyway.

Well, we all saw what Ralph Wilson, the Buffalo Bill's owner, did, 50 million guaranteed to one player, who will probably sit on his ass and collect paychecks.

Just to add to the Bengal talk up there ^, I think they go Cordy Glenn with their first pick. That would be a lot of weight on the right side if he lined up next to Andre Smith.

While I hope(think) our S position will be addressed real soon, the oldest corner we have is Ike Taylor. Kennan Lewis is 25, Cortez Allen is 23, and Curtis Brown is 23.

According to the Denver Post, the Dolphins are currently negotiating a contract with free agent Alex Smith that would pay him $8 million annually.
The Dolphins are so desperate, after losing out on Peyton Manning and Matt Flynn, that they're now willing to significantly overpay a borderline NFL starter at near the level of franchise quarterback money. Matt Flynn only got $6.33M annually from the Seahawks. Smith isn't as physically talented as incumbent Dolphins starter Matt Moore, and he's certainly not worth more than Flynn. At this point, it's almost like the Fins are trying to sign a quarterback, just to sign a quarterback.

This is what I thought they wouldn't do merely because it would be extremely stupid. They care more about saving face than actually helping the team.

I did that with my job when negotiating pay. It's pretty common. Most FAs in every sport do this every year.

No, but young guys don't play early in the Steelers' defense. Kennan Lewis just finished his third year and JUST started playing. The coaches love Allen and believe he could start next year and he did a pretty good job on Gronk last season. Brown could be the best of the bunch. They have the dreaded "p" word as a unit.
