He rushed with his hands on the ground about 80 percent of the snaps last year, he should be fine. He's better when he rushing in that position anyway then standing up.

Rushing isn't the only thing you need to do with your hand down though. Elvis Dumervil has had a similar problem as a DE in the 4-3, where he can still rush the pass just fine (except when he was injured obviously) but gets manhandled in the run. And Wake is taller and lankier. (6'3 250 to 5'11 260)
As a stand up linebacker and situational pass rusher, he'd be just fine. But full time 4-3 DE isn't exactly his best use.

It doesn't really matter anymore. Teams just don't run the rock like they used to.
The term situational pass rusher is dated. If anything, the new term should be "situational run defender"

Jarett Dillard waived.
"Great value in the 5th round" - said by just about everyone on here, which is why draft grades are garbage.

Hey, it's not our fault that the Jaguars have never been able to develop receivers! :)

Don't blame us for the franchise's inability to do anything properly, including develop talented players.

Dillard's the ****. Kid's got the highest vertical jump I've ever seen on the football field. Maybe I'm just being overly optimistic but he's so quick/shifty/explosive I have a hard time believing he can't find a niche on a team with a real quarterback.

Added two years through 2014. Very interested to see how we split duties in the near future. I'm glad we were able to give Freddy something, he's been such an effective bargain for years. 2014 is about how long I would expect him to be effective, and will also be when Spiller's rookie deal ends.
Now on to Byrd and Levitre!

Ya he deserved a bump in pay. Great player. I really hope Spiller can come on and be the electric player they envisioned.

My top ten free agents remaining:
1. RB Cedric Benson
2. WR Mark Clayton
3. WR Braylon Edwards
4. OG Vernon Carey
5. DE Wallace Gilberry
6. DE Matt Roth
7. LB Rocky McIntosh
8. FS O.J. Atogwe
9. FS Abram Elam
10. FS Jim Leonhard
Looks like slim pickings at this point. I left off Andre Carter because I heard he's still limping heavily after injuring his quad last year. Honorable mentions: Ryan Grant, Visanthe Schiancoe, Kareem McKenzie, Jason Brown, Tommie Harris, Gary Brackett, Melvin Bullitt.

I actually just did some research and in retrospect he probably should have been left off the list; two really poor seasons in a row.

Vernon freaking Carey is unsigned? Seriously?
Also, I think your love of Benson is too strong Matt. I recall us having this discussion before for the forum offseason. He's pretty much grinding down to a halt...at most, I think he could be what Ricky Williams was for the Ravens last year but that's about it. He doesn't bring much to the table other than running up the middle.

I don't know, I think a running back with three straight seasons over 1,000 yards deserves a roster spot, especially coming from a division which is difficult to run the ball in. There are some pretty slim pickings in free agency at this point; Ryan Grant may be the second-best back available.

1000 yards bunder 4.0 ypc the last two. His receptions are also well below where a RB needs to be in this day and age of the NFL. Oh, and 12 fumbles the last two years.
No thanks. I'll take some fresh, cheaper UDFA over him for a roster spot.

I think the Bengals may have upgraded a little bit by switching to BenJarvus Green-Ellis but Benson could still contribute to a team if he's willing to accept a backup role. I was actually hoping New England would sign him but I'm alright with Joseph Addai as well because the Patriots will probably be passing the ball 70% of the time.
