Whoever gets Derek Cox will be very happy. I remember Mel Kiper throwing a fit because he didn't think he was good enough for the third round.

The same thing happened with the 49ers I guess, just a year before.
Most SB winners are usually battle tested playoff teams that have 1 or 2 things go right for them along the way, like Victor Cruz emerging for the Giants or Flacco's game maturing in the playoffs this year. It's rarely the hot young team that ends the season and makes a big move in the offseason. These teams involve too many unknowns projecting forward. Like will Russell Wilson have play as well in his 2nd year? Can the Seahawks sustain injuries at certain spots? What happens if Sherman isn't a shutdown guy this year?

Everything looks great now, but this core hasn't been through as much as San Fran, Green Bay, Denver, New England, and Baltimore. I have a pretty good sense that those teams will navigate whatever is thrown their way next season, however can you really say the same for Seattle?

Rotoworld is reporting that the Bucs are shopping Arrelious Benn and ProFootballCentral is saying that the Bills, Chiefs, and Jets are interested. I know he was hurt most of last year and put up sub-par numbers his first 2 years (but that's not unexpected for most young receivers). Can anyone provide me with a better idea of the type of player he is? Honestly, I'll take almost anything on the Bills' roster right now because we currently have Stevie Johnson, TJ Graham, and Brad Smith. That's just downright ugly.

He is a decent depth WR. He has not been the playmaker in the NFL that he was at Illinois. If we sign him to be #2 to Stevie - I really don't see a big difference between him and Donald Jones.

Still think Indy would have the edge over NE with Pagano over there.

He struggled to learn the offense as a rookie, which lead to him getting beat out by fellow 2010 draftee Mike Williams. While I don't think it has ever been confirmed, there were reports that he's had trouble with the new offense under Schiano, as well.

He's notorious amongst Bucs fans for being former-OC Greg Olson's go-to guy on poorly designed and executed end-around plays, which the team ran multiple times a game despite it never, ever working. The only other times he was really utilized in the offense was on go-routes and he was usually effective in that regard, but that's not something I would bet on after his knee injury.

To be blunt, I don't know a single Buccaneers fan who even remotely cares that the Bucs are shopping him. Most of them seem to have completely forgotten he remains on the team.

NE has pretty much been the big time favorites for awhile now to land Reed. I will be very surprised if he leaves, that it would be for anywhere but NE.

Were the Saints battle tested? Were the Packers? The 49ers got to the SB this year with a rookie QB and the rest of their team wasn't 'battle tested'.

People were saying the Steelers were going to beat the Packers because they had been there before and the Packers had the youngest team in the league, iirc.

I don't buy any of it.

Well, no one is saying they WILL win it. They are saying they are one of, if not the favorites in the NFC. There are obviously unknowns for every team going into every year. Will Kaep play as well in his second year? Will any of these teams be healthy? With the Packers be competent on D or the o-line? You can pose what-ifs about any team in the league. It's just pretty hard to think of a team who has so much all-around talent and balance as Seattle.

Average overall safety. He's still the second best center fielder in the NFL and the hardest DB not named Revis to gameplan for. Don't sell him short; he may not be the physical presence he once was, but nobody in the NFL sets up QBs like Ed Reed.

Well it comes down to two routes. 1. We re-sign him, and 2. if we can't and someone wants him more than a first rounder is what the RFA price would be. I want to keep him, but a 1st rounder is acceptable. To be more specific, I'd like to see what teams offer him a contract and where they are picking in the draft. Hopefully, it's a valuable 1st round pick in the draft slot.

The thing is they really haven't done anything to justify being the favorites yet. They went 11-5 last year, and had a lot go right along the way to get there. The thing in most situations like this is people project everything to continue to move forward and rarely it does. The what ifs are much more relevant to Seattle because these are contingencies that they haven't experienced yet. We know Denver, New England, and Green Bay will be fine as long as nothing happens to Manning, Brady, or Rodgers. San Fran is even more balanced and talented than Seattle, are better coached, and have playoff experience as well, and Baltimore is balanced and has experienced every injury and contingency at this point.

This Seattle type team exists every year, and rarely is it the team that comes away with the SB in the end. I think Seattle have an outstanding shot at winning it all in the next 5 years, but their status as present favorites rests far too much on potential rather than consistent results. Let them prove that they can have consecutive winning seasons before declaring them favorites.

Hopefully, it's a valuable 1st round pick in the draft slot.
As a Rams fan the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of going after him. Sucks to trade the #16 pick but Cruz is elite. Would love him in St. Louis.

He would certainly help in the arms race you guys are having in your division. Have you heard from any of the beat writers or local media if the Rams are interested?

Not really. But I've been so busy with school that I really haven't had time to listen to anything.

Maybe you guys aren't interested then. So far, all I seen was that Minny was one team interested and it's on their MB. Other then that, Ian R. mentioned teams but didn't who specifically.

The Giants have a nice little trio of Nicks-Cruz-Randle. They should really try to keep that together. Especially when you consider how injury prone Nicks has been as of late.

Cruz is great in New York, but I'd let him go for the 16th pick, mostly from a financial perspective. Conversely, there's no way I'd part with a high draft pick in this class to add a wide receiver who I'm going to have to pay big bucks.
