James Casey. Didn't think he would go somewhere else. I liked him coming out of Rice. Too bad he hasn't blown up yet. Of course he's been behind Owen Daniels and I think the Texans tried playing him at fullback for a while?

He was a solid contributor for the Raiders. Could have done with keeping him.

With all due respect, the stupidity of these statements is staggering. I'm not advocating blindly throwing money at people and way overpaying. But the Jaguars have no QB, one good offensive lineman, no pass rush, one linebacker, no cornerbacks, and mediocre safeties. They seriously need 10 starters. You aren't getting that in the draft.

And Caldwell the best GM in the business? What has he done? He hasn't signed anyone. He hasn't executed any trades. He hasn't had a draft. All he has done is cut a few defensive backs.

And this is my problem with Jaguar fans and why I am often embarrassed to be one. You guys are a bunch of sheep. First it was "In Gene We Trust." If anyone criticized Gene Smith, they were crucified and called a fake fan. Well, who was right? If you wanted to give Tebow a shot, you were again criticized and told to just go back to cheering for the Gators. Now it's Bradley and Caldwell. Jaguar fans are already calling them great and they haven't done diddly dick. But if you criticize them, you aren't a real fan. Jaguar fan drone-mentality is so bad, it has even stretched across the pond. For no reason whatsoever, every Jaguar fan is now a Newcastle United fan. And they act like they have been fans for years. I don't like the move either; I certainly wouldn't have given him anything over 5/season. I hate overpaying for OL. But you really gotta stop quoting PFF ratings as if it's the only way to measure a player's performance, and more importantly, as if it's the only indicator of future performance. Bushrod is better than Webb. Bushrod allows you to do things, schematically that Webb does not. Bushrod is physically more equipped to handle LT. There is value in that.

This made it more expensive for them to cut today than it would have been if they had done nothing or cut him off his initial contract. Thus bad cap management. The move to get rid of him today was fine, but they made it more expensive for them to do so to try and save a buck in previous seasons.

Bushrod is better than Webb. Bushrod allows you to do things, schematically that Webb does not. Bushrod is physically more equipped to handle LT. There is value in that.
I'm really not seeing how giving up just as much pressure as Webb when blocking for a QB who gets rid of the ball much faster than Webb's did lets us do more. Seems that would let us do less.

That's just saying "everything's gonna be alright" like everyone did last year when I bitched that we "fixed" our OL with Chilo Rachal.

Well you have to factor in the exchange rate as well.
