Default And the youngest team in the league is...

The Buccaneers. Followed by the Packers, Panthers, and Bengals.

The oldest team in the league is Steelers. Followed by the Cardinals, Chargers, and Lions.

The rest of the list

surprised that Philly is so young. I think it's a bit misleading though b/c they count specialists and Philly has young specialists.

Lions being the oldest offense in the NFL is all on their O-Line and backups.

Anyone else find it very concerning that the Chargers are up so high in age? That window seems to get smaller by the week.

Love the balance that the Packers have. Pretty rare what they're putting together.

Myron Pryor-25
Jermaine Cunningham-23

Kyle Love-24

Along the defensive line that's an average age of 28.7 years old.

When you compare to the LBs who have an average age of 25.5 and the secondary at 25.2 you see why the average age is up a bit.

I will say though that the cornerstones of the defense, with the exceptions of Wilfork are all quite young

Outside of Kelly Gregg, we have a pretty young defense. This pleases me.

That's what I was thinking... and it caught me by surprise to see them as 7th oldest.

Yeah this. Average age of an entire squad really doesn't have much to do with your championship 'window'.

I knew the Packers would be towards the bottom of the list. They don't go out and sign big name free agents. Also, they don't tend to sign many of their draft picks long term. They simply let them leave in free agency. Don't reply and say that they signed Charles Woodson because that's an exception.

Just in the Ted Thompson era:

Aaron Rodgers
Nick Collins
A.J. Hawk
Greg Jennings
James Jones
Desmond Bishop
Mason Crosby
Josh Sitton

Not a draft pick but we claimed Tramon Williams and signed him long term as well.

The Ravens aren't that old really. They average 27.65 among the players that I actually think are going to be contributors. There are some older guys but we have some young guys that could step up. Lewis and Reed are irreplaceable though.

Sadly.

To be honest, I don't think he's as bad as you think he is, but he is by no means a good LT. Mediocre at best.

In any case, the team is grooming second rounder Marcus Gilbert to take the LT position, and he's supposedly done a good job in practice so far. He's our backup tackle and I wouldn't be surprised if coaches had him starting at some point in the season.

Too bad age of an offense or defense has absolutely nothing to do with how good a team is or isn't. Look at Tampa Bay, they were the youngest team in the league LAST year, and made the playoffs. Steelers were the oldest and made the Superbowl...I don't get the relevance of the article when there's so much other stuff to be reporting on at the moment.

Tampa did not make the playoffs, but were extremely close. They are even younger this year, but they are building there team the right way and that is through the draft. That builds continuity and chemistry. I think you might see some struggles, but this team is very talented. They might be primed for a playoff run in 2012 and beyond. However, this year, I see an 8-8 record. The o-line I think will get it together, but the defense is still very young. I still see confusion on certain reads where players are missing assignments, so it could be a struggle.

Also, they may have Pittsburgh pegged as the oldest team, but I like what they're building depth wise to replace these older guys when the time comes. The only problem for them is finding a replacement for Polumolu in the next few years. He's already starting to show some wear and tear on his body.

I find the article interesting and relevant (I mean, this is an football forum, and the article is directly related to every single NFL team).

I mostly find it interesting that the Packers are so young yet are coming off a Superbowl victory. I know it requires a lot of work but if they manage to keep themselves as talented as they are now for the next 4-7 years then they'll be just as dominate as the Colts / Patriots / Steelers have been for the last decade.

Not only that, they keep building through the draft and replacing with younger guys to develop until they're ready.
