Anyone know anything about Mechanical Vibrations?
I'm only a couple weeks into the class so my questions are on the initial concepts
Equations of Motions... I get the concepts of getting the "equivalent" masses and K's but...
I just suck at starting the problems... still n00bing it up and it's annoying

Damn you are brave for taking Vibrations. I took Advance Thermo. DraftGuru might be able to help you.

They have an ME section but none of their textbooks (for HW help) are Vibrations. I searched a bit around but couldn't find anything.
I won't be taking advanced thermo but I'm taking Heat Xsfer and I'll probably go with Compressible Fluid Flow.
Fluid Flow wasn't too bad and it kept my attention. So we'll see.

I'm going to be taking Heat Transfers as well. No compressible fluid flow, i hear its crazy. Fluid mechanics/flow, was pretty interesting, but then they like kick it up a few to many knotches since you have to work with a system of flow on something, like air hitting turbine blades and how they are shaped and what not, matrix lots of them.
I took random electives, like intro to bioengineering, photovolotic systems, advance thermo, HVAC(super easy class and very to the point of look up in table, find right equations combine). Still not sure what I want to do, might end up going for MBA in project management.

Anyone know how to use the atan2 function in matlab?
In my mech vibration class, I figured out some angel using atan but apparently the correct angle is 180 degrees opposite on the unit circle.
My instructor told us to use the atan2 function but it's asking for a Y and X and some examples show inserting a range as well.
That's just too much for me to comprehend.... any help?

You would be better off going to matlab or physics or engineering forum. Though sometimes they are rudy cool, and won't help unless you show them you did something or if it is hw this only drop hints. other times you get people that will help.

Thanks fellas.
Broth, that link just went over my head. Cross and dot products of several vectors getting arctan'd ... I get all that buy my example is a simple equation.
It's not a vector or anything. I think that's why I'm so confused.
I can't find any examples that pertain to my situation.
All is well though. A friend of mine let me know how to make it work.
Not sure if it's the right way to do it but it's the only way I got it to work.
Thanks again.

After you guys talking about bioengineering and all, anything normal seems useless to post in this.

Maybe I can help you. I'm mostly into macroeconomics and finance, but I do have some knowledge of microeconomics as well.
