Yep. I'm sure that most of the people in Second Mile did good work and that most of those board members were mostly associated for the occasional fundraiser.

I just shared the list because it's not a rinky dink charity. It's a big thing.

Yep, Board Members voted him to be fired. Joe Paterno's reign as coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions has finally ended.

What a shame it went down like this.

This is a really sad week for college football. He's the last coach that I ever thought would go out like this.

With that said, I second getting the rest of them out. With the most popular person out, there should be no road-blocks to cleaning house.

Very sad season. JoePa was the last of a great generation of coaches.

The good old days are gone. Might as well move on and professionalize the game.

This press conference is pretty insane. The press is acting some insane questions - they just asked about the board trying to fire paterno as far back as 2004 and seeing this as the perfect opportunity...wtf.

This is terrible. Regardless of what other people say, I don't believe JoePa deserves this. I believe that this will probably be the death of him, simply because I don't know if he can live without coaching.

On the other hand, I'm happy that this is a good opportunity to clean house. Hopefully Penn State can get a good, high-profile coach to get this program back on track.

So, why again did this not come out until now? What did they wait for Joe Pa to break the college football all time wins record? Seriously, why did it take this long to come out?

Overall, awful situation, and makes all of the time college athletes got free cars, money etc.......seem like nothing. This goes beyond any of that stuff, it is not even close.

Death penalty for Penn State? Clearly not, especially since it happened so long ago. But one could totally argue, this is way worse than anything SMU did back in the day.

I've waited a long time for the apocalypse to begin and it is finally among us. Someone actually reasonably stated that Matt Millen made the most sense out of anyone in a group of people. I'm going to my bomb shelter.

COULD totally argue? Don't really think there needs to be an argument here. SMU paid its players, who ******* cares in comparison to something like this.

Can you please tell me how the NCAA has anything whatsoever to do with this? These are federal laws, not NCAA regulations that are broken. You cannot punish players, for the actions of a coach a decade ago.

I haven't read the NCAA regulations and I'm 100% talking out of my ass here....

...but most organizations have a conduct policy. I'm pretty sure that an institution-wide conspiracy to cover-up a series of violent felonies against children would violate at least 99.9% of all conduct policies.

He just compared the actions in general. And either way, I have never nor will I ever give a **** about paying players, so I'd prefer sanctions for this rather than paying players.

I wonder if the student body will riot in Happy Valley. This weekend's game - the whole atmosphere is going to be so surreal. It's kind of ironic that Sandusky's replacement becomes the interim head coach.
