There's a scenario where Arkansas could beat LSU, and both LSU and Arkansas could be 1-2. It's unlikely, but it's possible.

I think if Arkansas beats LSU, Alabama would stay at #2 and LSU would go to #3 on most polls (due to Alabama having a victory over Arkansas). Things could get really ****** up if Arkansas wins. I don't have much confidence that Arkansas would beat Georgia in the SEC title game... So there's a situation where two teams from the same conference will play for the national championship game without having won their conference (or even played for it). That is a disaster situation.

Alabama should have dropped further than one spot after losing to LSU @ home. I am really hoping Arkansas throws a wrench into the spokes by beating LSU and somehow a sorry Auburn team shows up in the iron bowl.

It'd be fun to watch, but I doubt Arkansas wins that one.

If Auburn wins it doesn't throw a wrench in anything. LSU would play Arkansas in the NC most likely.

it didn't matter b/c everyone who would've been ahead of them lost and Bama would still be #2 this week.
this year sucks b/c barring a major upset by Arkansas or Georgia or Auburn, the NC game will be LSU and Alabama and one of those teams won't have a conference championship to their name this year for the first time in BCS NC history.

Oklahoma made it in 2003 without winning the Big 12 (lost the championship game to Kansas State)
Same thing happened with Nebraska in 2001
The internet, check it out.

SEC haters out in full force. I don't want a re-match just as much as the next person but it's hard to argue that Alabama isn't the 2nd best team in the country.

I'd still take Oklahoma State if they can beat Oklahoma, personally. Tougher schedule.

that is a dream scenario. how will the bcs be able to defend a 1 vs 2 championship in that scenario? it will be a crushing blow to what support it has left. hopefully it would get everyone to agree on a playoff system already

It would be impossible for that scenario to happen because the SEC champion would get an automatic bid, and there can't be three teams from the same conference in the BCS bowls.
edit - trying to verify that rule, just to make sure.
Welp, i stand corrected.

No more than two teams from a conference may be selected, regardless of whether they are automatic qualifiers or at-large selections, unless two non-champions from the same conference are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the final BCS Standings.

if Pac-12 refs weren't ******** and USC sat out their bowl game last year It would be awesome to see them vs LSU in the national title. Woods & Lee vs Claiborne & Mathieu
only acutal loss being to Arizona State

I'd agree but the loss to Iowa State hurts more than Alabama's loss to LSU.
