I think he's going to be Blaine Gabbert all over again.
Ugh.... I don't think that's fair whatsoever. Do you not remember how godawful Blaine was last year? The biggest scouting blunder at QB I have ever seen in a draft class. He had no arm, he had no movement, he came from a spread where they dropped a total of 10 times all year, he had a good supporting cast that was held back by himself and most importantly he had absolutely no sense of awareness in the pocket. If he felt pressure 99 times out of 100 it was going to be an ugly play for the Tigers.

Gabbert was absolutely terrible. I thought there was some kind of running joke going on as to why he was flying up draft boards. Nope.

The "he's big and throws a lot!" argument got him drafted high in the first round despite the fact that he lacked nearly every other required skill of being an NFL passer. "Spiking the ball in the middle of the pocket with pressure on you then curling up in the fetal position as you get hit all whilst drawing a flag for intentional grounding" is only below "throw directly to the opposition" on things an NFL QB should never, ever do. I was embarrassed as an NFL fan when he did that.

But if Foles launches up boards because "he's big and throws a lot!" it's going to be the same thing. You'll be taking a guy whose college offense was "screens, screens, throw deep if the guy is open or check down if he isn't, screen, screen, slant, screen...." and shove him into a pro offense, likely behind a lousy o-line and very little supporting talent. You'll ask him to read the defense and then go through more than one progression all with 300 pound lineman bearing down on him.

He should not be a high draft pick, at all. That is my point and why I compare him to Gabbert.

Fair enough!

My only issue is, Gabbert couldn't throw the football. Foles can, and is the reason why I think he'll succeed at the next level.

Figured I would chime in on the Nick Foles arm strength debate.

Foles definitely has enough arm to make all of the throws, but it isn't a cannon a la Ryan Mallett. That becomes especially obvious when he is under duress. When Foles has a clean pocket and can step into his throws he can wing it pretty good, but he certainly doesn't flick it down the field like a Cutler or Mallett do. On a scale of one to ten, I would probably call it a 7.5 or 8.

The only thing that made Foles hard to evaluate was that he was in such a dink and dunk offense that he never really worked on the deep ball. I think his arm strength is average, probably close to Andy Dalton. The thing I'm worried about with Foles is if he's going to be a checkdown artist, since he was coached that way at Arizona.

He has a better arm than Dalton, but I can see this being an issue. I will give some benefit of the doubt though since Andrew Luck loves the checkdown's as well.

Found confirmation that Midwestern St. OG Amini Silatolu has been invited.

Glad to see one of the top small school kids invited.

Still waiting on Janoris Jenkins and Trumaine Johnson...

Just texted w/ football communications AD at UNC. He was told a few weeks ago that Dwight Jones would be playing in the Senior Bowl.
Hasn't had any update since then. Looks like he's coming. My God this Senior Bowl is stacked at WR. Can't wait to see em in action.

Scott and Shane, I am unaware of your rules regarding links, because I am new on your forum. If it is not allowed, my apologies.

Instead of writing it all out, here is where we are with Chris Polk and Dwight Jones.

The Senior Bowl section is right after the first section about Hue Jackson.

Those are some big gets. I'm real interested to see how Dwight Jones does.

I know a lot of people like Cam Johnson as well, even though I've just never see it. Curious to see if there really is anything there.

TJ Graham will be joining Audie Cole (who was already confirmed iirc) at the Senior Bowl for NC State

If Graham doesn't drop a ton of passes in Mobile and runs a good time at the combine he could climb up into the mid rounds. Bad performance and a mid 4.4+ and he's looking at day 3

Johnson definitely looks the part, that's what's intriguing about him. Good size at 6'3"-6'4", 270 lbs. Good athlete with some freakishly long arms. I think he may be more of a guy that shines in 1-on-1 drills than the game.

Oklahoma CB Jamell Fleming added as well.

Also, found an article confirming that Cal Poly CB Asa Jackson will be in Mobile.

Not sure if any one has read or heard but Michael Floyd has pulled out of the senior bowl...Via Face book Senior bowl coverage page. Now why would he do that ? Such a big thing NOT to go to this and raise your stock unless you already know your going in the top ten maybe.
