I don't believe that Caldwell has ever called plays at the NFL level before. Which is all the more lol-worthy.

I never thought I'd feel sorry for the Steelers, but hearing that they're considering hiring Jim Caldwell as their offensive coordinator confirmed it; I'll definitely never feel sorry for the Steelers. I'm actually about to have a big laugh at their expense.

Why would Pittsburgh hire Jim Caldwell for Offensive Coordinator?
The reason Arians wasn't retained was because they wanted to go back to pounding the rock. Caldwell, last time I checked, came from more of a pass first offense.

I seriously don't understand why Whisenhunt blocked McNulty from interviewing for an Offensive Coordinator position for the Bucs. That's absolutely a cold move by him to block his opportunity for a promotion.

It is a dick move, but Arizona is within their right to do so.

Bruce Allen did it a ton of time when he was GM in Tampa. Mike Tomlin, Rod Marinelli, Joe Barry, etc. were all blocked by Allen.

The Bucs did it to the Bears in 2004. I'm sure they've done it since.
Edit: Nevermind. Beaten to it.

meh Caldwell is clearly not head coach material but he can do just fine in the role of QB coach/offensive assistant.

By "just fine" do you mean "about as well as a potted plant" since he just won't get in the way?

From Peter King:
Former Miami Hurricanes, Cleveland Browns and North Carolina Head Coach Butch Davis has been linked to Greg Schiano and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a candidate to come aboard as Defensive Coordinator/Assistant Head Coach.
I think it's a great fit. They became very close from there time in Miami when Davis was the Head Coach.

A Cam Cameron offense led by a Jim Caldwell coached Joe Flacco.
RIP Ravens. If Ray wants another Superbowl ring he'll need to do it with another team.

Poor Ed Reed. I was rooting for Baltimore because of him. It's ashame that he hasn't won a Super Bowl.

Whoever was announcing their last game seemed to think he already won one. (Probably Phil Simms...) He was listed with Ray as being part of the team that won the Superbowl in 2000. Pretty impressive because I'm pretty sure Reed was like a sophomore at Miami at the same time...
Moron announcers get paid big bucks to sound like morons on TV. Get your facts straight or gtfo of the booth.

Haha. Everyone knows Reed was a huge part of the 01' Canes National Championship team. How some of these guys get to do these jobs is beyond my knowledge.

Add Tony Wise, former Dolphins, Jets, and Cowboys Offensive Line coach as another key component to the Bucs staff as the same position.
Davis and Wise being linked to Tampa? Seems like Schiano is on the ball right now. Not home run hires, but great chemistry could lead to a great staff.

I have no words. This is yet another example of how I would be a better option for most of these teams then the staff in place. Even I know better then to keep Cam ******* Cameron and hire Jim ******* Caldwell. This is ******* atrocious.
Sorry Ray, sorry Ed...Apparently the organization doesn't think you deserve a SB. Pathetic.

Caldwell will just be a puppet that doesnt do anything just like he was at Indy. I dont think its doomsday like APS is pointing out I just think things will stay the same. Which still means no superbowl ring .

I don't think Caldwell will be like the determent Cameron is, but I think your mentally fragile QB could use a QB coach who will actually provide more coaching input than a potted plant.
Ray Rice seriously needs to grow wings in order for that offense to get our of its own damn way...and even if he does, Cameron still needs to get him the ball which is a 50/50 proposition at best.

We had Jim Zorn who apparently is a great QB coach but Cam fired him because he said "WTF are we doing sending Boldin,Hoosh,Mason,Heap deep we gotta go WCO." I just think Cam is going to be in charge and Caldwell has little say. There is no hope for the offesnse. Flacco may seriously consider going elsewhere after this season when his contract is up
