I've never seen a year before where so many position coaches were denied potential promotions.

In the past, teams almost always let these guys interview.

I'm thinking that it may be worst for the Bucs because they were notorious for not allowing their position coaches to interview. Guys like Rod Marinelli and Mike Tomlin were consistently denied.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

And I'm sure the other owners aren't thrilled about half-empty stadiums for two years now, as they keep hemorrhaging money from their ManU loans.

Really, though, how is this team not discussed more often in relocation talks?

Pissed off a lot of people. Plus it doesn't help it's so late in the game that most teams don't want to go interview new guys from the shallow candidate pool.

Despite the current poor state of attendance, the Buccaneers are still more valuable franchise than a lot of NFL teams so it's not like they're failing in Tampa. Plus, they got a huge gift with the Raymond James Stadium lease - they basically pay nothing for the stadium expenses but they still keep virtually all of the profits. And they don't have to pay any taxes.

Yup. I hate Bruce Allen. Not only he was in Tampa a terribly cheap GM who had no guts at all to do the necessary moves, but he was also a jerk. And an idiot. I remember when he promised we would sign "Tiger Woods type free agent" and all we got was... Jeff Faine.

I'm just glad the Giants showed the fortitude to allow Sullivan to advance his career. He would have no shot at making OC in New York so that probably played into it, but it is still an integrity move on their part.

I'm not too concerned about being denied a DC though, he is probably just going to be Schiano and Davis's ***** any way.

Yeah most likely Schiano will be the "real" defensive coordinator.

This is for DraftSavant:

Mularkey says he assembled an unbelievably great coaching staff

Quote:
Mularkey’s confidence is sufficient that he doesn’t see any reason the Jaguars can’t be contenders this year.
(I see a reason:)

And then, you've gotta love some of the comments:

Quote:
"Coffee on computer monitor.
Thanks! :/"

"I’ll give him the unbelievable part"

"if the jaguars are contenders with gabbert playing qb, he should be considered coach of the century"
Love it all.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say something a little controversial.

I think the Falcons are going to miss Mike Mularkey. The Falcons were at their best when they pounded the ball, came out 2 TE and played ground and pound.

I think they want to become a more aerial team, and put the ball in Ryan's hands, but I think this isn't going to work out for them. They'll discover the hard way that Ryan simply isn't that guy.

One of my bigger pet peeves is when we blame the OC for not going more vertical. The OC can't physically force the QB to throw it downfield. He has to have the stones to do so, plus the coverages have to dictate a throw down the field.

Most plays have a vertical concept to them. Almost every play has someone going deep. It's not always the OC's fault when your qb is checking down. Maybe it's the qb...

Isn't this how you started out the Falcons are a 7-9 team post? :P

I think the Falcons are definitely going to be less reliant on Turner. I also think we're going to play more to Matt's strengths. I didn't have an issue most of the time with Mularkey calling for deep balls (he even overdid it completely with Julio), I had a problem with his extreme predictability last year.

I agree if we're looking for a heavy throw, constant deep shot team, we probably won't get all that far, because that's not our game. We need to get work the intermediate routes, run some damn screens for once (stated goal) and take our occasional shot.

So more of a traditional WCO? I do feel that's the best type of offense to run with Matt Ryan. That or Chan Gailey's style of offense, where you spread the field out in 4 to 5 wide, and allow Ryan to read the defense and hit the hot routes.

Ryan would actually thrive in a Run N Shoot style like the Bills, or Pats run.

I agree with this completely. Let's get in the no huddle, let Matt make his reads, and get the ball in Julio's hands to him make a play.

Paul Guenther is the new LB coach

Still hoping we find a way to bring in Rod to coach.

The Rams have hired Chuck Cecil to be the new DB coach.

It is hoped that Cecil can get our secondary to stop trying to get in touch with their feminine side and start playing some physical football!

If not, mebbe Chuck will head butt some of these people or something...

'Nother good hire by Fish!!!

Bill Sheridan is frontrunner for the Tampa DC job. You better hope Schiano is the de facto guy because Sheridan is awful.

Yeah saw this. Only had 1 season as a defensive Coordinator and really disappointed. Has a ton of experience and was once held in high demands as a Coordinating Candidate around the league and was the 1st choice to replace Spags.

Butch Davis is the consultant, so he could mold the coaching staff together before gameday and adjust schemes and gameplans. Maybe the Bucs saw something in giving him a second chance, I don't know.

Sheridan gets another chance while Tim lewis never got another shot at being a DC? I hated both, but good god, Sheridan is piss poor! Lock the doors at your facility! If you guys hire BS lord have mercy on your team, because NFL offenses won't.
