Why? So he can throw a record number of interceptions? No we're good.

It's amazing that since Michael Crabtree, Ted Ginn, Brett Swain, Jason Hill, etc dont haul in bombs all day that Alex Smith has a terrible deep ball. Vernon Davis, Joshua Morgan, and Antonio Bryant disagree.

Randy Moss just became the second best receiver (TE+WR+RB) on that team.

If Alex Smith progresses again or they convince Peyton Manning (and he isn't a shell of his former self) to come to SF, they should be the favorites.

Well that is what happens when you talk to the Madden Generation. Alex Smith has actually shown he's capable of throw a ball 60 yards. Happened in 2006 on a wet and rainy Qwest Field. Caught by Arnaz Battle.

Begin at :41 seconds.

I remember the old Kwame Harris lowlights video. It was filled with Smith to Bryant bombs that were called back for holding penalties.

Kwame Harris was terrible. Hands down the worst tackle we ever had. Check that, Barry Sims comes in first. At least Harris could protect sometimes.

Crabtree and Davis are both better receivers, so no.

Go deep, Randy.

It's just a matter of whether or not defenses trust Alex Smith to throw the ball that far. I wonder if this is a subtle push in the Peyton sweepstakes, or at least reason for Alex Smith to believe so and budge

Lmao. I was waiting for it. Like it's a big accomplishment for Smith that Vernon Davis can destroy Roman Harper one on one.

40 year old Matt Hasselbeck and John Carlson(who?) also looked like the truth against the Roman Harper coverage, haahha.

Just had to bring up Harper huh? :(

I dont understand to be honest, but maybe this is a turning point and he thinks he has a better shot of winning a Super Bowl with San Fran then NOLA (He does as of now)

The old Randy wouldve went to where he wouldve gotten the most stats wise, and no one could question thats with the Saints.

Great to see Harbaugh giving Moss another shot.
This is pretty much a sure fire signal that Ted Ginn is gone.
How Moss does is all up to him..
If his body and his mind is still capable of playing, then he could be their #1 target.
I'm interested to see how motivated Moss is, not only that, but how in shape he really is,

NO is a very uncertain situation right now. He probably sees the 9ers as a stable situation, where if he's healthy and as effective as it seems, he'll be unquestionably the top target.

Ted Ginn might come back because of his value in the return game. He was never really supposed to be in the starting role for the majority of the season. Josh Morgan got hurt though, so that was that.

He chose Alex Smith over Chase Daniel. No biggie.

Moss already starting his antics. Just kidding, but this was a funny quote from his press conference call:

Quote:
Q: In 2010, it was different than the rest of your career, production-wise. What was behind the drop in production?

Moss: "Well, I don't really want to get into that because you all would not understand if I tell you anyway. So I'm not going to talk about that.
Quote:
Q: Can Jim Harbaugh still "bring it"?

Moss: "That's funny you ask that. Yes, he can still bring it at his old age. I don't know, he's probably sitting there with an ice pack or something on his shoulder right now, but, yeah, he can still wing it."
It's going to be annoying seeing all the bay area wannabe thugs and gangsters sporting 49er Moss jerseys from now up until 5 years down the line when he isn't with the team anymore and/or it ends in a messy divorce.

Feel free to tell me how that relates to Alex Smith not being able to "utilize" Randy Moss.

And Malcolm Jenkins

Feel free to tell me how that relates to Alex Smith not being able to "utilize" Randy Moss.
Our safeties getting torched (again) doesn't prove anything, nor does it insult me at all. It's like saying our team can't get a pass rush to make me argue.

Alex Smith is a mediocre game manager who can't consistently attack deep. Hitting Vernon Davis on 10-15 yard passes and having him either get into the endzone or run the rest of the way doesn't change the fact that he can't consistently get it to his wideouts.

The 49ers wide receivers combined for 48 yards that game(and 1 catch for 3 yards in the next game), and you're bragging and using that as a defense of Smith. Or a video from 06-07 showing him making a deep pass. Isn't it bad that you have to go back 6 years to find a deep throw? lolol. What QB in the NFL absolutely CAN'T make that throw? It's not that it's impossible for them, it's just some guys don't do it well or consistently... like Smith.

I've never seen a fanbase more protective over a player that's preventing them from winning a superbowl. =/ Enjoy having a checkdown master, because if your coach and fanbase didn't continually support a mediocre passer, you'd probably be front runners for Peyton Manning.

Still salty about losing to the 49ers I see.

Come back and talk to me about Alex Smith when you've watched him play more than a few times. Until then, you sound like Skip Bayless.

He routinely hits Vernon Davis on deep throws. The WRs haven't been utilized in a deep passing game since Norv Turner was OC (Martz did, but Smith missed that season.)

The fact remains, that if he can hit Davis on deeps routes with consistency then he can hit other players that are creating separation as well.

And with Carl Nicks, Marques Colston, Robert Meachum, and Drew Brees still unsigned. Sean Payton likely to be suspended, and drafts picks likely to taken away, it's funny that you'd find an opportunity to attack the QB that knocked your team out of the playoffs. Yet you did. Well played.

that is done by good coaches to hide player's weakness.

what does the last bit have anything to do with Smith's play?

Because Jim Hostler, and Jimmy Raye knew how to "get the best out of their QB?"

And the last part doesn't have to do with Smith. Neither did the Roman Harper comment that he made in an attempt to discredit Vernon Davis' importance to the deep passing game (He's the only receiving option that has shown a consistent ability to create separation deep since Antonio Bryant.) I simply mention Vernon Davis as showing that Alex Smith can connect on deep throws and a Saints fan automatically assumes I'm talking about the NFC Championship game. I wasn't. Smith has been hitting Davis routinely on deep seems and wheels. The closed-mindedness of many will simply make the connection to the NFCCG, of which isn't all that relevant because the two biggest passes to Davis weren't deep throws.
