Default Alfonzo Dennard as a FS?

Does anybody else think that Alfonzo Dennard could end up as a better FS prospect than CB prospect? Everything I've seen and heard about him, especially when I watched the Senior Bowl practices, leads me to believe that he won't be a very good CB in the NFL. It seems that unless he gets a good jam at the line of scrimmage, he is pretty easy to beat deep. Also, I've heard people say that he's really most effective when he keeps the play in front of him. This leads me to think that he's more of a FS prospect than a CB prospect. He's got the size at 5'10 and 203 lbs to make the move (plus he's really built), and if I were running a team, I'd seriously consider asking him about his willingness to move to FS when I interview him. If he's receptive to the idea, than I'd have to watch more tape to see how he tackles and plays in space. If he can do those things, than I think I'd have to consider taking him as a potential FS somewhere in the 2nd round (I don't think he goes in the 1st). We've seen other players make the move from college CB to NFL FS and have success (Antrel Rolle, Malcolm Jenkins, and Michael Huff come to mind), so my question is, does anyone else think Dennard could be the next to make the move and be successful? If I'm crazy, let me know...I'm just voicing something that I was thinking about today. Thanks.

First off welcome aboard. For me the way the game is played today you have to have your FS be able to cover either a very good 3rd receiver or a quality TE. If Denard has faults at corner but can excel at the above mentioned role then he's probably going to make some team very happy.

If he's moved to safety he wont be able to do what hes best at, jam receivers at the line. I see him as a nickel cornerback that specialises in shutting down the Wes Welker's and Danny Amendola's of the world.

I think it could work. Dennard is at his best when everything is in front of him and he is great against the run. Depending on his closing speed, he can stuff the run pretty well. He can work at FS.

hes too small imo, and he needs to be a press zone corner. he could probably play FS but he would look like macho harris and be ok but just look tiny out there

Safety would be his worst position.

He gets abused when he has to cover a guy who has a running head start.

Alshon Jeffery is basically his worst nightmare if he's play off coverage, which is what we saw in the bowl game.

I think he can play off TE's and cover and not have to worry about getting abused or beat deep unless he's matched up against one of the studs like Vernon Davis who can stretch the field against anyone. As far as covering slot guys like Welker, I have no doubt he can do that, but if I'm spending a 1st or 2nd round pick on a guy, I'd want him to be an immediate starter and not a nickel corner when I can get a guy like Josh Norman later in the draft to play the nickel

Plus I worry about his physical cover style not suiting the NFL game as well, where you get a flag thrown on you if you almost look at a WR the wrong way
