Best Franchise in the NFL
i figured since there was a worst franchise thread, there should be a best, even though i know this will bring out a lot of homers. try and stay away from being a homer. recent or all-time.

In recent times, The Patriots. I don't think that can be argued.

Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers, and with their recent years New England Patriots.

Of All Time either the Steelers or the Dolphins. Dolphins have a better record since the merger. Steelers have the rings and contender tradition. Could go with Cowboys or 49ers for Championships as well, but their success didn't span multiple decades.

i would add the Bears in there. when it comes to a franchise lasting them and GB are up there in yrs. and you have to be doing something right for the team to stay that long.

The most well-run franchise IMO is the Eagles. It hasn't translated to a ring yet, but there's no reason to think it won't. They don't overspend for players, and they replace aging talent almost immediately with good drafting. Great coaching all around as well.

Yeah, that is what the Patriots do as well. Except they win Super Bowls too.

How is this even a question?
It is easily, the Cowboys, and I am not being a homer. The Cowboys are tied for most CHampionships, have the most conference titles, most playoff wins, most playoff appeariances, and most divison titles. Not to mention they are the most known team and famous team by far, and america's team. This isn't even a debate.

"america's team" yeah, the cowboys are "easily" a better franchise than san francisco or pittsburgh and you're "not" being a homer.
why do you bother posting? we all know by now exactly what you're going to say in any given thread.

Along the lines of what Ward said, the Patriots had many great years before the Super Bowl runs, went to two Super Bowls, went to the playoffs a number of times, and only four teams in the AFC have been to more conference championship games. They even went to an AFL championship game. They absolutely had some BRUTAL years, but I think there is a slight misconception that they were always horrible before the Super Bowl wins.
That said, the clear cut winners of this are the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys, and realistically, it's not even close. 5-0 in the Super Bowl, and only one team has been to the conference championship more times in the NFL era. That other team is the Dallas Cowboys, who have been to 14 conference championships and have been to 8 Super Bowls, winning five.
So that said, it should be:
1. Dallas Cowboys
2. San Francisco 49ers
And then everyone else.

To me it's more interesting (and less argumentative) to discuss who is the best run franchise currently. All that's going to happen if we discuss all time is a war between Cowboys fans and everyone else. We've done that before, it's boring and doesn't lead anywhere new.

You have to look at the NFL as a period of eras. Early on in its history, the Packers were a great franchise, as were the Browns, Bengals, Chiefs, and Vikings. In the 70's, the Steelers and Cowboys really came into their own. In the 80's, the Cowboys started strong, but San Francisco finished stronger. The Redskins did very well under Joe Gibbs. The Chargers were also fantastic for a few years. In the 90's, the Bills went to the Super Bowl 4 straight seasons, and the Cowboys returned to dominance. Green Bay owned the mid-90's, as did Denver with 2 straight Super Bowls to cap Elway's career.
The salary cap era brought parity, and sustainable success was hard to come by. The Rams made an early run, but they killed their cap. The Eagles, Broncos, and Patriots have been the best overall teams since 2000. Most playoff appearances, most division titles, etc. The Eagles were kind of the Bills of the early 00's, but they're still contenders almost every year. They have made the playoffs 6 of the last 7 seasons. The Pats are simply incredible as well. The Pats win and are well-coached. They also win in a stronger conference than the Eagles.
Edit: Completely forgot about the Raiders' eras of dominance. Apologies to Raiders fans for the unintentional slight.

First of all stop being a hater because your a steelers fan. And if you read my post you have no arguement, I stated ALL FACTS. They have the most in all of the categories I stated. There is no arguement here, it is easily the Cowboys. Oh and Dallas will always be America's team. Oh and Jerry Jones is the best owner in football.
But thanks for trying.

For those citing Super Bowl victories, I guess the NFL pre-1965 doesn't count to you?

Just because the Cowboys call themselves America's Team doesn't mean they're really "America's Team" in any way. That is self-patronizing BS. The Yankees have 26 World Championships and dress in blue and white (with a little red). Baseball is America's Game. The Yankees don't call themselves "America's Team". The Boston Celtics are the most dominant franchise in NBA history. Bill Russell has 11 championship rings. Basketball is an American-made sport. The Celtics hail from the Cradle of American Liberty. They don't call themselves "America's Team".
From now on, I'm going to refer to myself as "America's Poster". I'm sure fans of Bsaza2358 will follow suit. Does this sound selfish, self-serving, and make me look like a douchebag? Absolutely. How do you think the Cowboys look when they spout off with the America's Team crap?
Signed,
Bsaza2358
