Besides the QB position, today's game is all about matchups. When you're immensly productive and the biggest matchup nightmare in the world, you're going to get paid.
And to echo most others, glad for Calvin. Loved him ever since scouting him. It's nice to see him become dominant and get paid like he's worth. I still remember the Falcons could have traded up for him. :(

If the lions would have drafted Jason Smith or Aaron Curry then he doesnt sign this deal.

They will now have to give a similar contract to Matt Stafford. Sheesh.

Dont be an angry beaver because you were still trying to draft Steve Slaton last year.
I also love this deal for Detroit, it would be different if they were still searching for a franchise QB but with Stafford this deal is money in the bank. He proved his worth posting elite seasons with crap at QB, then he finally got a real QB and blew up.
I also don't think this last season was his best season he'll have.

As a Cincinnati fan, I'm scared of what AJ Green is going to want after his rookie contract now :(

He's the best prospect since Calvin at the position. If he puts up those numbers in year 3, are you really going to care? Are people forgetting the cap number goes up almost every year?

I wonder how much Kenny Britt is going to get after he blows up with Jake Locker.... or Peyton Manning.

Mike Brown is notorious for low balling his player's contracts (except Carson for some reason). I'm concerned with Brown's ability to figure out how much we need a WR like Green :P

I'm still convinced he made Stafford a lot better than he actually is.

5 years ago, I'll never forget this: Tampa can have the Lions #2 pick if they trade the 4th overall, and there 2 2nd rounders in 2007 draft/.
Bucs denied the opportunity of a lifetime :(

That would have been a disaster for the Lions. They would have ended up with Gaines Adams (RIP) and Millen would have blown the second rounders.
