But what do I know? If it's not a smokescreen, then I've learned to have faith in the Packers braintrust.

SI.com draft analyst Tony Pauline "hears" that the Bears will select LSU DT Michael Brockers if he's available with the No. 19 pick.

Pauline also passes along word that Illinois DE Whitney Mercilus "has been ranked high" on the Bears' draft board, and could be the 19th pick if Brockers goes in the top 18. Pauline reports that Chicago's draft strategy is "more likely" to involve drafting a defensive lineman in the first round, and waiting for receivers in frames two or three. They were previously linked to Baylor WR Kendall Wright. The approach would be sensible in a wideout-rich draft.

A DT makes alot of sense for the Bears considering all of theirs suck (unless Idonije is playing there).

Have they come remotely close to replacing Harris? Is Melton on that team or am I thinking of some other team?

Didn't the Bears draft Stephen Paea last year in the 2nd round?

Sure, and the Jets took Wilkerson/Ellis in the first and third last year on a team with DeVito and Pouha already (along with Rex Ryan coaching). Still doesn't eliminate them from Poe or Brockers if Poe fell or Brockers was the BPA at 16...not completely anyway...though it does shrink the odds, I guess. Pats went with a first round DT 3 times out of 4 between '01 and '04...worked out well. I even just did a mock on a Cubs forum where Bears fans didn't rule out DT even acknowledging Paea's selection...

A. We work rotation on Dline maybe more than anyone else.
B. Henry Melton had 7 sacks last year at DT
C. Yes, we just spent a 2nd rounder on Stephen Paea last year

So while we may or may not take a DT in the first, it won't be because they all suck. It'd be because we cut Anthony Adams and Amobi Okoye signed with Cincy.

Okoye's in TB, not Cincy.

I liked the Kendricks selection and still do. Sure, he had the dropsies last year but that's fixable.

Why is Travis Lewis falling like a rock? Seems like just a few weeks ago he was considered a solid 2nd round selection. I had him as a mid 2nd-early 3rd rounder. Really liked him at Oklahoma and thought he was better than guys like Zach Brown...........Why do so many people have him as a 6th-7th rounder now? Am I missing something?

He was undersized in college, then tried to bulk up to an acceptable NFL size at the Combine and had terrible workouts. I also heard he had some really bad interviews in Indianapolis that turned off a lot of teams.

Tony Pauline reports the Eagles would select Fletcher Cox if they traded into the top 10. Also, Jim Washburn personally worked him out and reportedly "really liked him".

Booo...boooo...the eagles should just sit tight and take Weeden, because thatmakes sense...somehow...hey if we're lucky the cowboys will take Barron, explain that one to me and I'll acknowledge how little sense Weeden makes for the Iggles.

Uh... What? So if I explain Barron to the Cowboys, you would explain something that I really don't care to have explained? Thats like saying "I'll give you one dollar if you give me two".

You have no idea what you're talking about and you're just talking out your ass. Melton was one of the best DTs in the league last year. Paea looked good the 2nd half of the season and will be our starting NT this season. Both players are also very young.

You clearly dont know what you're talking about.

I dont know what theyre doing, but a trade down makes sense. Theyre linked to 4 guys right now just at the 3rd spot alone.

I have absolutely no idea what the Vikings are doing. A couple weeks ago, Spielman came out and talked down Kalil and up Claiborne. A week ago, Schefter said they were leaning towards taking Blackmon at 3. Then yesterday, I read that the Vikings have a "high-level of interest in Alshon Jeffery", and now today Schefter says it's Floyd that they're high on and might even take at 3.

If I had to guess, they just want to trade down and would then just take the best player on their board that falls to them. Other than that, it's pretty much impossible to discern what it truth and what is BS with this much info coming out, nearly daily.

He had a bad Combine with a slow 40 time, never really recovered from the injury a yr. ago that hampered him in the sr. yr. he opted for at Oklahoma. Shame too, I've always been big on him -- he is the best defensive player my HS in Texas has produced in > 35 yrs.
