Well, Mayock apparently studied his game film really closely and really loved what he saw and they put up his stats on NFL Network and they were pretty solid compared to Kirkpatrick's. Mayock was an ex pro DB and I really trust his views on those position players.

I thought you were talking about Claiborne. Anyways Gilmore is still really overrated. He should go nowhere near the top 10, and probably shouldn't be in the first round consideration.

i like dre at FS, he could play CB on the steelers because they run a ton of zone...but if you put him on the cowboys where they man up all the time you are gonna watch dre chase WRs into the endzone a lot, kinda similar to how we watched kareem jackson get torched his rookie year.

jenkins you can put on a WRs hip early on and id expect him to be great....but he didnt help himself by blaming everyone else at the combine. i thought he was gonna interview much better at the combine.

gilmore i know the least about at this point, im not really buying the hype quite yet....i think id have minnifield over him at this point. gilmore has some good ability and a great skillset but i think his stock reminds me of about where sean smith was taken in round 2 a few years ago, hes not as big as smith but i think hes the same tier of prospects

Jenkins is the best corner. I think Gilmore is the most talented.

I think Kirkpatrick will be best in a man to man scheme, bump and run type of defense. Dallas defense could really use a guy like Dre who can cover deep as a CB/FS, but it may be a tad early at 14.

Jenkins stock will be hurt with his size/character issues, but I think a ideal spot for him may be in Detroit. They need to replace Eric Wright, and Jenkins can be a great value at 23 and be an excellent cover guy in a pass happy division.

Gilmore will slide to the late 1st/early 2nd in my mind, not getting passed Minnesota in the 2nd. A team like New England with one of their 1sts, or Denver need CB help.

Well, I can take you opinion or an ex NFL DB who now scouts college players extensively and is paid to do it. I'll choose the latter.

What do people think about Dre Kirkpatrick playing FS at the next level? I realize he is a little bit light at the moment, but he has a frame that looks like it can withstand another 15 lbs without losing much mobility; and it is always better to be slightly too light than the alternative...I think that he would be at his best playing centerfield with his coverage skills, and his tightish hips would be less of a concern all the way down the field than if he were playing CB. If I were Mr. T, I would take Kirkpatrick at 16 and convert him to FS. It would free up Laron Landry to play in the box, and finish the best secondary in football off...

Or you could try, you know, watching them play yourself. Gilmore did not play like a first rounder by any stretch of the imagination. He has excellent tools and a lot of upside, but implying that he could go top 10 is an absolute joke, and any GM stupid enough to do that should be fired immediately. Also, there are plenty of scouts with differing ranges of opinion on prospects, even Mayock has missed on DB's before.

Not true. He wasn't great his junior year but his freshman and sophomore tape was outstanding. He had a slight letdown year but has all the measurables you look for in a star NFL defensive back. I don't agree that he played better than Mo Claiborne though.

Also, Kirkpatrick's size is no better than Gilmore's. In fact, Gilmore's is probably better. He is 1 inch shorter but has 1 inch longer arms, and weighs over 10 pounds more than Kirkpatrick. Kirkpatrick only looks "long" because he is skinny as hell. Did you see him at the second 'bama pro day the other day? He looked like a starving kid from Africa.

Now i'm not bashing Dre and would love him on my team if I was an NFL team, but some of these faults are obvious.
yeah, I'm aware that Kirkpatrick's arms aren't as long as you would like for a 6-2ish corner. He is still very long though and tall and can cover the big WRs better than 5-11 or 5-10 guys if he can polish up his coverage skills. Big long fast corners are rare and in high demand and that is why Kirkpatrick and Gilmore are going to go as high as they are - not because of their ball skills or pure coverage skills right now. Jenkins has a leg up in that regard and is very well built for a smaller corner. His off-field/character concerns will push him down lower than he should go. If he was clean off of the field IMO he would be the 2nd corner drafted.

Kirkpatrick is far better suited to play in a zone system like he did for Alabama, his is very physical and an excellent tackler and fits a zone system very well. You put him on an island in a man to man system and he just doesn't have the speed to stay with fast receivers and will need a lot of help from his Safeties. That's why Gilmore and Jenkins carry a higher rating except of course, Jenkins character issues drop him belowq Kre.
