Default Locate the Runs...

I'm very interested to hear what and where you guys think there will be runs on positions throughout the draft. It happens every year, whether it be because of supply or demand, it happens.

One thing that I can see happening is a serious run on DB's late in the first through the middle of the second round.

If we assume that Claiborne, Gilmore, Barron, and Kirkpatrick are all 1st round guys, that means that you have basically 5-6 more highly touted DB's left in the draft. I think between picks 28-48 it's possible we'll see all of these guys off the board:

(in no particular order)
Brandon Boykin
Trumaine Johnson
Alfonzo Dennard
Harrison Smith
Janoris Jenkins
George Iloka
Josh Robinson
Chase Minnifield

The first one I see is a run on DE/OLB near the end of the first. You have a bunch of teams that could see adding a flawed pass rusher as really good value, especially New England and Green Bay. Not surprisingly, these teams are pretty stacked talent wise, but a situational pass rusher can add really good value to a team, sans glaring holes elsewhere.

I think the reason a lot of us are having issues is that none of these guys especially stand out and are quite flawed even Coples, who is pretty universally the number one guy. Teams are going to do their due diligence and try to find the guy that can overcome his flaws with hard work and fit schemes that can mask their flaws. Add in if the teams believe they can keep a raw talent developing in the right direction. Do all three and you can get a gamechanger like Clay Matthews in the end of the first.

I also see a mini run on safeties in the second. Not even the most safety hungry team is going to reach on anyone other than Barron. However, I think a bunch of teams are going to bite the bullet in the second and try to scrape whatever is left of the meager safety talent.

Overall I am pretty sure their will be a run on tackles/guards. Just have no idea where.

WRs in the second.

Blackmon
Floyd
Randle
Wright
Hill

That seems to be the first round group. This also leaves awesome value in the second as I expect one of thse names to drop pass 32.

I expect the following names to be gone by the middle of the third. I think its going to be a mini run jump started by the outcast from the first in the 33-37 range. Just a hunch.

Outcast from first round
Jeffery
Sanu
Quick
Jankins

I think the 2nd - 3rd rds. will see a run on the 2nd tier of OTs after the 1st tier, Kalil, Rieff & Martin + the best OG with OT experience, Cordy Glenn, are gone in the 1st rd. more or less in this order:

Mike Adams, Ohio St.
James Brown, Troy
Zebrie Sanders, Florida St.
Brandon Mosley, Auburn
Bobbie Massie, Ole Miss
Mitchell Schwartz, Cal
Matt McCants, UAB
Matt Reynolds, BYU

by these teams who will go elsewhere with their 1st rd. picks:

Bears - Need ORT AND OLT, Lance Louis moves to OG & Webb sucks
Browns - RT need per Mel Kiper, Pashos can't protect McCoy
Titans -- Or OG, Jake Scott is a FA
Falcons - 1st pick in 2nd rd. for OLT with Sam Baker move to OG
Chargers - Dielman &/or Hardwick might retire
49ers - Or OG, Chilo Rachal project is done
Redskins - Trent Williams fails drug tests
Miami Fins - RT need b/c Colombo is done with 9 sacks allowed
Steelers - And OG, need depth everywhere but C
Cowboys - Or OG b/c Kosier destroyed his knee in Wk. 17 + Costa replacement at center
Bills- OLT need, Bell is a UFA
Zona Cardinals - Need OT in addition OG, my mock has them taking DeCastro in 1st
Lions - Backus is a FA, C Railoa in last contract yr.
KC Chiefs - OLG & ORT need
Panthers - OT depth for Otah (contract yr) & Gross (age 31)
Texans - OG & C depth

If OL is a major need, miss on these & they will have to suck this season & draft in the top 5-6, or trade up for Barrett Jones in 2013.

I think it will be fun to watch how the 3-4 OLBers get picked in this draft. Starting in the 20's, there is bound to be a run that continues all the way to the end of round 2.

Then, there is the deep RB class and it is going to be real interesting to see where they all get picked.

I don't see a run on Safeties, 4-3 DE's or TE's at all. Just a very shallow talent base at those positions.

The OL and DT corp is pretty strong so there could be runs at those positions.

WR and CB could see mini runs.
