Default Preseason All-American Team 2007

Inspired by Ironman. Just my team. Obviously would love to see other people's teams and some friendly arguments. QB, CB and TE were the hardest positions for me to choose but Beckum should put up the best numbers and alot of the time that's what AA teams are all about. It was hard taking Brohm over Brennan, Booty, White and Woodson but in the end I feel his hype, his team and the return of his top two targets will give him the edge. At CB it just came down to personal preference really, Flowers is a very productive, play making corner on one of the top defences in the country and Jenkins won over rival big ten CBs Jake Ikewonogu, and Justin King because I feel that his teams pass rush will be stronger than the other two and help him to have a better season.

QB: Brian Brohm, Louisville
RB: Darren Mcfadden, Arkansas
RB: Steve Slaton, WVU
WR: Mario Manningham, Michigan
WR: Earl Bennett, Vanderbilt
TE: Travis Beckum, Wisconsin
OT: Jake Long, Michigan
OG: Jeremy Perry, Oregon State
C: Adam Spieker, Missouri
OG: Will Arnold, LSU
OT: Sam Baker, USC

Utility: Desean Jackson, Cal
K: Art Carmody, Louisville

DE: Calais Campbell, Miami
DT: Glenn Dorsey, LSU
DT: Frank Okam, Texas
DE: Derrick Harvey, Florida
LB: Dan Connor, PSU
LB: Rey Maualuga, USC
LB: James Laurinaitis, Ohio State
CB: Brandon Flowers, Virginia Tech
CB: Malcolm Jenkins, OSU
S: Kenny Phillips, Miami
S: Courtney Greene, Rutgers

P: Geoffrey Price, Notre Dame

The format depends entirely on the publication. Some publications use your format while others differ and use mine. That's why some players are "All-Americans" even though many fans (especially people on this site) don't remember them being All Americans. For example Rodrique Wright two years ago.

An example of a publication using my format.
http://www.sportingnews.com/exclusiv.../688346-p.html

By the way I like your team. Leaving Sedrick Ellis off was difficult for me and I only left Coutu off because I'm not sure how recovered he is from his season ending groin injury.

what about that LB from Ohio St.
Laurenaitis? He's good, but tailed off a bit in the last few games. If he can improve at shedding blocks, he definitely can overtake Goff. If I had to create a 2nd team, the LB's would be him, Connor, and Xavier Adibi/Brian Cushing.

just go ahead and make all the returningVT defensive players on the AA team, theyve had the top D 2 years running, and return 8 starters.

Juice Williams eats Tim Tebow for breakfast. Mark my words; Vontae Davis, J Leman, Juice Williams, Regis Benn, and Martez Wilson will all be All-American 1st Teamers.

Oh ok, the last 3 I'm extremely homerish about, but the first two have a shot. J IMO is one of the most underrated LB's in College Football right now and Vontae right now from what I've seen is the best true sophomore CB. It could happen. I do think though that Regis has a shot at All-America Freshman 1st Team though,

Good Lord he was a sophomore.
Jimmy L is a tackling machine. He's fast as hell and I expect him to come back 10 lbs (of muscle) heavier. I think he's a helluva prospect.

Oh ok, the last 3 I'm extremely homerish about, but the first two have a shot. J IMO is one of the most underrated LB's in College Football right now and Vontae right now from what I've seen is the best true sophomore CB. It could happen. I do think though that Regis has a shot at All-America Freshman 1st Team though,
I agree on Leman. I love watching him play.

Juice Williams is a great athletic talent, but he has got miles and miles to go before he becomes an All American

Well, I guess since I kind of "started" this thread, I should throw in my 2 cents:

QB- Brian Brohm, Louisville
RB- Darren McFadden, Arkansas
RB- Mike Hart, Michigan
WR- Mario Manningham, Michigan
WR- DeSean Jackson, California
TE- Martellus Bennett, Texas A&M
OC- Tony Brinkhaus, Minnesota
OL- Jake Long, Michigan
OL- Jordan Grimes, Purdue
OL- Will Arnold, LSU
OL- Sam Baker, USC
PK- Brandon Coutu, Georgia
KR- DeSean Jackson, California

DL- Calais Campbell, Miami (FL)
DL- Sedrick Ellis, USC
DL- Glenn Dorsey, LSU
DL- Vernon Gholston, Ohio State
LB- Rey Maualuga, USC
LB- Dan Connor, Penn State
LB- Shawn Crable, Michigan
DB- Malcolm Jenkins, Ohio State
DB- Kenny Phillips, Miami (FL)
DB- Justin King, Penn State
DB- Antoine Cason, Arizona

EDIT: I had to make the change. I've got the guy in my sig after all, how could I not have him on the team?
