I really like the Slowey pick. Seems like he really has the physical and mental traits to be an excellent pro... Only thing holding him back was the level of competition he faced. Small school OL in the later rounds is definitely an area where the team has had lots of success in the past. Glad to see us going back to the well now.

I'm jealous would of loved Johnson in the 7th over Potter only falling because of Sickle Cell Anemia

With the 49ers 2012 NFL Draft done, what would you grade it as of right now? I'm going with a B+ which includes the added draft picks for 2013.

1 / 30 - WR A.J. Jenkins
2 / 61 - RB LaMichael James
4 / 117 - OG Joe Looney
5 / 165 - OLB Darius Fleming
6 / 180 - FS Trent Robinson
6 / 199 - C Jason Slowey
7 / 237 - DE Cam Johnson

And as of right now, here's my early final 53 player roster -

QB / 3 - Smith, Johnson, Kaepernick
RB / 6 - Gore, Hunter, James
FB / 8 - Miller, Cartwright
WR / 14 - Crabtree, Moss, Manningham, Jenkins, Williams, Ginn
TE / 17 - Davis, Walker, Byham
C / 20 - Goodwin, Beeler, Slowey
OG / 23 - Iupati, Kilgore, Looney
OT / 24 - Staley, Davis, Boone, Person

LS / 25 - Jennings
K / 26 - Akers
P / 27 - Lee

DE / 31 - Smith, McDonald, Dobbs, Johnson
DT / 34 - Sopoaga, Jean-Francois, Williams
OLB / 38 - Brooks, Smith, Haralson, Fleming
ILB / 42 - Willis, Bowman, Grant, Gooden
CB / 48 - Rogers, Brown, Culliver, Brock, Cox, Holcomb
SS / 51 - Whitner, Spillman, Jones
FS / 53 - Goldson, Robinson

Of course, this is way early and doesnt include UDFA's and other player movement such as veteran signings or trades.

With the drafting of Jenkins and James and Baalke wanting two draft picks in each round next year, who do you guys think that Baalke would trade from the current roster? I wont be surprised if Crabtree, maybe Dixon, Kyle Williams, Ginn possibly and maybe others like Grant, Gooden or Haralson get traded before final cuts are done.
Maybe one of those players for a late rounder but trading average players for decent draft picks only happens in Madden.

4)Looney is maybe the best pick of the draft but nothing to get excited about
5) Fleming is a decent value for depth

I haven't been this bummed since we drafted Kentwan Balmer, and even then I thought it was a better draft because I liked Chilo. lol

This draft was alright. Hopefully some of the players we got will make a nice impact to an already good team. I'm satisfied. Can't wait to see Jenkins in action.

I think we got F$%#@ ! this year in the draft. I was more dissapointed in our 2nd and 3rd day picks than our 1st however

we just gotta wait and see how they develop. i never understood the grading system for drafts when nobody has played a down yet.. some drafts look good on paper and flame out as the years go by and some drafts dont get you excited but they all develop into solid players. you just never know
