Might as well embrace it guys. Ansah MVP in '13!!! Senior Bowl results, only every game.

I do want Warford and/or Barrett Jones in the next couple rounds. We can still have the ability to take a tackle next year and Reiff could play either side.

Good pick for the Cardinals.

So risky. This pick is Mayhew's future in Detroit.

Yep. It is pretty much a boom or bust pick.

It isn't just Mayhew's career, this pick will decide the fate of the Lions for the next 5 years. If he is average or worse yet, a flop, we won't be a playoff contender period.
I'm totally stunned, good GM's simply don't put the fate of their franchise on a college player with 4 starts, who is raw as can be and lacks any kind of football instincts.

The only thing I'll add, is that you have to give Mayhew plaudits for guts, because it took a lot to make this pick and I pray it works out.

I'm praying for menelik watson or kyle warford although I originally thought that would be a reach.

Is there any FA OGs out there?

Justin Hunter or Zach Ertz are legitimate possibilities.

I really hope Teo isn't there when we pick. I do not want him.

Arthur Brown would be a great pick up.. first round talent that fills one of our biggest remaining needs.

Won't be picky. I don't really want a WR now that Hopkins is gone, but if we took one I suppose I'd prefer Robert Woods. I'd like Stedman Bailey at some point.

I have zero interest in Stedman Bailey but there are a very solid group which could have been 1st rounders, a very solid group.

Default I absolutely don't understand

Miami moved up 9 spots with a third round pick. We absolutely needed one of the tackles. The next two best players left in my opinion are Tank Carradine and DaMontre Moore. Both DE's. I feel Mayhew really screwed the pooch and he's only made one pick. God we need a new GM. I 'll trade the rest of this year's draft and all of next year for a real GM here in Detroit.

Well, the Ansah pick at #5 will definitely be his new trademark. If Ansah fails, we'll know he's almost as bad as Millen, if Ansah becomes a star, Mayhew will move into the top echelon of NFL GM's. I'm praying for the latter but expecting the former.

With the top 3 tackles gone and Lawrence Jackson signing with the Vikings yesterday, I guess it had to be a pass rusher. Reports yesterday were the Lions really liked Ansah and Cooper.

Boom or bust. It was the right value and he fits the scheme. Get him on the edge and let him pass rush next to Fairley/Suh. He has the right formula to succeed with that and Washburn, and the Lions really need him to be at least solid as a rookie.

Hunter, Warford, Watson, Taylor or even DE Tank Carradine(we need 2 and it mitigates the Ansah risk) now. Tampa did it 2 years ago with Clayborn and Bowers.

I also really hope they don't take Hunter. Hes pretty thin for a receiver his size and I feel he could get injured easily at the next level. I would rather take Rogers in the third, since he has very good strength so it makes it hard for defenders to bring him down and he fights for every yard. But for the second round I still want Warford. I feel like he can be a big help to whoever is playing the RT position this upcoming season.

Watch for a trade down. Lots of QBs are sitting there for the taking and I think a run is gonna happen. Arizona, Cleveland, and Jets are all behind us and Zona and Jets are legit threats to take one. Cleveland maybe too.

I wouldn't mind a small trade down to take warford.

Reiff is now our LT atleast for next year. That leaves the entire right side as one massive question mark. I think we gotta take Watson or Warford to get some stability over there. I think warford could be less of a risk because Watson is definitely a project as well. I'm just not sure if we can afford to take 2 projects round 1 and 2.

Also think Ertz is intriguing because it allows us to cut Scheffler and his 2.95 million dollar cap hit and possibly use that to go sign Brandon Moore in FA. Pettigrew is also a FA next year I believe...

Lastly, I'd like to see us move back up into the second from the third is some players fall. I feel like there is a lot of talent available right now and would happily part with some picks next year to move up. (remember we are basically guaranteed to get some supplementary picks next year for Cherilus, Avril and Hill)

I like the Ansah pick. We swung for the fences and we took a position that is both need and value. I don't deny the risk, but they got a chance to coach this kid at the senior bowl, so if he was truly so raw that he couldn't contribute for a year or two, I think they would have seen it. Playing for Washburn, next to Suh and Fairley should help ease his transition to the NFL.

For round 2, my board is pretty clear. Watson,Hunter,Carradine,Taylor. They all have first round grades from me and would fill some sort of need. If we stay put, I think we need to get one of those 4 and we should have a good shot at Watson given who's in front of us(could be 2 QBs to Jax(or their slot) and Philly).

I'd be happy to trade down for solid value too. There is a lot of talent left, though there's a drop off after the 4 I listed IMHO. I love DJ Swearinger too, but we can't go S yet.

I love the Ansah pick. I think he'll wreak havoc in the wide 9. I see 8 or 9 sacks from him as a rook.

I was just talking about that Ertz signing and cutting Scheff at work today. You guys are awesome, I like that it was mentioned. I was thinking Ertz, then cut Scheff and sign a vet DE to take some pressure off of Ansah and allow Jones to serve in a rotation on the interior with Suh and Fairley. We'd have to grab Barrett Jones if possible in the 3rd.

However, I like Watson and Warford alot too.

Dynamic playmaking WR would help too, but better value next round.

We have our options at least, so I wouldn't mind a trade down.
