RotY Favorites
Now that the first round of the NFL draft is in the books we have a pretty good idea of the ORotY and DRotY favorites.
Offensively..
Frontrunner: Trent Richardson. He's likely to get 330+ carries this year and even a mediocre average should get him well over the 1,000 yard mark.
Other likely candidates: Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin. They both have huge hype coming in and even something like 3,500 yards and 20 TDs to 15 INTs could be enough to get the award.
Darkhorse: Doug Martin. Okay, so maybe it wouldn't be a shocker but he's going to a better offensive team than Richardson and could end up with a similar number of total touches.
Defensively..
Frontrunner: Melvin Ingram. His fit on that Charger's defense is fantastic and he's likely to be 3-down starter from day one.
Other likely candidates: Nick Perry. Unless he gets injured, Nick Perry will be the LOLB starter for the Packers for 16 games next season. Period. And what will he be asked to do? Rush the passer. Clay Matthews will draw most of the TE and RB doubles. Voters love sacks and it'd be a shocker if Perry doesn't lead all rookies in that category.
Darkhorse: Harrison Smith. He's not my favorite prospect, by a longshot, but he is going to a defense that will get thrown on (a LOT) and he will have the opportunity for a lot of picks. Voters like the INT almost as much as the sack.
What do you guys think?

I'm taking Kuechly for DROY. Love the pick by Carolina, love the fit. As for OROY, I think it's gotta be Trent Richardson. Although if Ahmad Bradshaw struggles with injuries, David Wilson is going to an explosive offense that should afford him alot of room to run.

I said last night to my friend that Chandler Jones will win Defensive Rookie Player of the Year. I see RGIII winning the Offensive Rookie Player of the Year and ultimately winning the Rookie of the year.

This thread is so premature it hurts, but as of right now my favorites are:
OROY: Tren Richardson
DROY: Luke Kuechly
Both are going to start from day one and both are blue chippers.

Luck when he throws for 30+ TDs, <10 INTs, and 3500+ yards.

Depending on how much PT Cox gets his rookie season, he could really make some noise under Jim Washburn.

OROY is a lock to go to one of the first three picks. It's likely even down to just the QBs already. Even if someone else has a better year, the voters are going to give it to Luck or Griffin.
Defensively, I think Ingram can get about 8 sacks which should take it.

David Wilson.. If he can see the field I'd be interested to see how he does. Plus Coughlin will want a lot more balance so it will be interesting to see what happens.

Offense:
Robert Griffin - Better position than Luck atm.
Trent Richardson - Will get lots of touches.
Michael Floyd - Playing opposite Larry Fitzgerald.
Defense:
Morris Claiborne - Playmaker and playing behind DeMarcus Ware.
Stephon Gilmore - Playing behind elite defensive line.
Nick Perry - Playing opposite Matthews, should get around 10 sacks.

Matthews frequently lines up over the RT, so unless there's a major strategic shift, Perry will be going against LTs. Still, I think he's good for 8+ sacks this season, playing opposite of Clay.

Every player the Bucs have drafted so far will get a lot of snaps/touches so they all have a shot.

Yeah this is spot on. Martin automatically assumes 3rd down duties (Blount is a crappy receiver/blocker) and if Blount continues with his propensity to fumble - which he has been working on in the mini-camp/changing his grip on the ball - Martin will get more and more carries. Not saying he'll win ROTY, but he is a deserving dark horse.
