Biggest Reach in Draft? (POLL)
On one hand you have Tavon Wilson (S Illinois) drafted by NE in the mid 2nd round that many have graded in the 6-UDFA range and most have never heard of. On the other hand you have you have Bryan Anger (P Cal) drafted (by Jacksonville) in the 3rd... as a punter.
I would include Bruce Irvin but that pick looks sane compared to these two.

There is no way it isn't Anger. You don't draft a punter in the 3rd. You just don't.
For what it's worth I'd heard of Tavon before the draft. Apparently the Bucs were high on him.

I'm surprised by the Tavon Wilson pick, but I did start hearing his name getting thrown out a lot the closer we got to the draft. A punter in the 3rd is just crazy though.

It's definitely not Anger.
That guy had a big East / West Shrine week and was definitely a draftable prospect. I had him as a sixth rounder and I wasn't as high on him as most. Wilson was firmly on the fringe.

Tavon Wilson for sure. Poor instincts, slow, stiff, no burst.

At least Tavon could develop into a player who plays more than 6 snaps a game.

That's only because the Patriots kick the ball off a lot.

Joke is going to be on all of us when Wilson is an Ed Reed calibre safety, Bryan Anger is the next Ray Guy and Bruce Irvin has 100+ career sacks.

The Wilson pick is reminiscent of when New England outsmarted itself by drafting Gus Scott in the third round one year. 2004?

Blaine Gabbert is their quarterback. He'll be getting at least 20 snaps a game.

I LOL'd last night when during the live coverage, Shane said, "Well with Gabbert as his QB, he'll be kicking a lot."

The Chiefs took Dustin Colquitt in the third, pick 99. That seemed to work out alright.
Of course, anyone drafted by the Chiefs is automatically a stud, no exceptions.

Brandon Weeden. He was drafted at least two rounds before he should've been and cost his team a first round pick. At least Irvin only went 10-15 picks higher than he should've and Anger only cost the Jags a third, a point where it's ok to go after a guy you really like since you're not expecting starters at that point.
