it's nice that Ahmad worked out for you guys in Frisco, but Bengals fans don't miss him.

Hated? All? That's a pretty strong generalization. He rarely played 2 seasons ago. He was the 3rd down rush specialist, and that's not his best role. Plus he has improved significantly during those 2 years.

Never assumed you do "miss him." My only comment was based on the assumption that all he does in San Francisco is rush the passer, which couldn't be farther from the truth. But thanks again for Justin Smith and Ahmad Brooks. I hope Manny Lawson, Nate Clements, and Taylor Mays make up for it.

there's really no need to get all passive-aggressive on us.
Bengals78 said that he was terrible outside of a pass-rushing role in Cincinnati. that statement doesn't have anything to do with what he does in Frisco. chill man, chill.
as for J.Smith, we're pretty happy with out D-line in general. the player we all wish we'd never let go is Jonathan Joseph.

Pretty much.
In Cincy Brooks could only rush the passer. Was soft vs the run and abysmal at best in coverage.
I never wanted JSmith to leave but understand why he did. Bresnahan is a horrible DC and I have no idea how he is still in the league. He should be banished.
I firmly believe if we kept Smith with Zimmer he would be just as effective with Zimmer actually moving DL around.

The passive aggressiveness came from the bolded. To me, it insinuates that he only does well in SF because he isn't asked to do anything outside of rush the passer. I'm confident it was intended to read that way, as well.
But I will fall on my sword and apologize, and let it go. Besides, I have a soft spot for the Bengals so I can't hate.

As opposed to what other city where they actually didn't expect him to do more than rush the passer?

FFS.
When he was in Cincinnati.
All he could do was rush the ******* passer. THAT WAS IT.
He couldnt cover.
He was soft vs the run.
He could rush the ******* passer.
How hard is that to comprehend. I have said that several times. I am sorry it wasn't a clearly conveyed thought.
****.

He is not replacing Suggs. He is replacing Jarrett Johnson. Watching him at Alabama he will be a perfect SLB in a 34.
