I want Mack more too, but it's not realistic from the sounds of it. Albert is a legitimate possibility though bc he's definitely bolting in FA. Maybe Oher too, although I rather have Albert.

DB...depends. Honestly, it depends. If TT stays healthy, and McBride shows us potential, do we need another CB? Prince, TT, and McBride is solid. And if we get Byrd at FS, we can use Will Hill/Cheap Stevie Brown/Whoever at SS and get by.

But who do we have at LB? Right now literally nobody. But it depends on the board.

Browner from another Cowner? I can't think of a rhyme honestly.

Albert's more realistic, but Cleveland does Cleveland things and that city is really terrible, even if they team isn't being horribly mismanaged it's tough to get players to stay in that craphole. So I think that if Mack isn't extended during the season, he's gone.

I just can't trust TT, I love Prince and I like having McBride and Hosley on the inside, but I'll never be able to trust TT's knees and even if I did I'd want a young guy behind him with the talent to replace him in a year or two.

And we have Jacquain who's actually good and Paysinger who's not totally useless, and that's a start, if we can get a top notch secondary and DL we can deal with a poor LB for another season, especially if we fix the OL as well so the O can dominate.

I don't know if you guys have ever heard of first-pick's NFL draft game. It's pretty cool, you take over as the Giants (or any other team) and GM the 2014 draft. Here's a link: http://first-pick.com/Default.aspx

and here's how I did:

thoughts?

I'll check this out when I get in my draft zone. I usually don't pay attention until the bowl games. I'll keep an eye out though.

I traded down quite a bit! I think this class of prospects would be amazing.

Yeah I'm impressed! I'm not ready to comment on the players just yet because I haven't done any evals yet but it's definitely intriguing. The only player I'm really infatuated with is Clowney right now, and if he's no longer an option I'm in favor of accumulating as many picks as we can.

He's more of an OLB in an odd front (34), but in our 43 he can play as a wide 9 rusher. Or he can play a Von Miller type of role with a creative defensive coordinator where he's a SAM in the base and a pass rusher along the DL in sub packages.

If Jordan Cameron can play DE Anthony Barr can too. It's a different NFL now.

Ok that's what I thought. We can't take him if Fewell is around because then he'd be a waste in that system.

I'll be shocked if Fewell comes back at this point. He's on the last year of his contract and I doubt we'd extend him.

Bob Sutton was a popular candidate for our DC position before we hired Fewell. I'm kind of annoyed that KC took him bc look at what he's done there. He basically brought the Rex Ryan defense to KC, and I'd walk on hot coals to get that system here.

Do we even want Spags anymore? Reading things that Saints players have said about him, coupled with his failures in St. Louis, it sounds like he's been terrible since leaving us.

I don't know if he's the right guy for the job anymore.

You know who would interest me though? Sean McDermott. If Rivera is fired he'll be available, he was another Jim Johnson understudy and he's finally gotten the hang of being a DC after going through a little bit of a learning curve early on.

Sean McDermott would be a solid lowkey choice.

Spags is taking the year off. I'm not sure what to think about him anymore. If Schiano gets tossed I'd love to bring him in to coach up the D.

If Schiano gets fired he's going back to college. I think he'd have burned all his NFL bridges if Tampa let's him go.

If Gus Bradley gets fired in Jacksonville (if they go 0-16 who knows) he's another guy I'd be interested in.

Schiano still has connection to Belichick so he could definitely go there as well. I don't know where he would go back to college as a head coach so I could see him be a DC somewhere.

Don't know much about Bradley. Where he's from before Jax?

Seattle. He was Carroll's DC.

It's obvious now that the scheme wasn't what made that Seattle defense tick, it was the players (duh) but I still like the Xs and Os of that scheme.

Butler, the LB coach in Pittsburgh is another guy to consider. Ron Rivera himself is another guy.

Dennis Allen potentially. Pepper Johnson. I don't know of many college guys.

Good call! He is listed as a Senior Defensive Assistant for the Ravens.

I haven't read anything about Spags in NO, but I wouldn't place the entirely on him, seeing as he was coming in to replace Williams that the players were rallying behind with no HC in place. That's exactly the environment I expect to see a lot of fingerpointing and excuse-making out of.

In STL he was just way too overwhelmed, that team was pretty bare, he didn't have a great staff around him, and he did turn that d build up that d for fisher to add the finishing touches to. I think coming back in under dinosaur would be exactly the setting he needs to get back on track, especially if we dump tuck and draft Clowney or Barr.
