Bob Bratkowski Says Jaguars' Passing Game 'Not Very Good'
Quote:
|
The Faint Praise Express rolled in Jacksonville on Monday. Jaguars offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski served as the conductor, doling out a lukewarm assessment of new wide receiver Laurent Robinson. "I think Laurent has been a fairly consistent player," Bratkowski said, a statement unlikely to appear in any Inspirational Quotes book series. "It's a work in progress. He's learning a new offense. I think he's been a good addition." Robinson isn't the only problem in the Jaguars' passing offense. First-round draft pick Justin Blackmon finally agreed to a contract Monday, and has already missed vital practice time. Bratkowski praised the progress of Blaine Gabbert, but said the second-year quarterback needs help. "That passing game right now is not very good," he said. "It starts with the protection, the drops, running the routes improperly. I know when you stand on the sidelines and look at it a lot of times it looks like it's a quarterback, but I'll be honest with you many cases the quarterback is getting fooled or he's under pressure and having to make decisions faster than you would want him to make."

Then some lawyer will slap a price tag on it and start taking bids to raise money for T.O.'s child support.

You made me think there was some Drew Willy based news with how that post started. One day...
Somewhat relevant thought One of the more intriguing player on the Bills right now is actually Scott Chandler. Super reliable target. Interested by what sort of packages we can see this year. Should still be quite a bit of wide spread, but they want Spiller and Jackson both out there and Chandler should have an increased role. Fitz loves him.

Something to watch for in the Bengals opener: Dontay Moch seems to be officially moving to DE for now. That is a lot of speed to have off the edge. Will be interesting to see how they use him there. I never fully bought into him as a true 4-3 LB. Also, Vontaze has been impressing lately. So he will likely see a lot of snaps.

The only person he'll mention is Jerry Rice. Then talk about how he would have been better than Rice if his QBs were *** or tired or in love with their TE.

Louis Delmas has knee surgery. No word on how long he'll be out, but having surgery during training camp on an injury from the previous season is never a good sign.

Clausen slides to #3 on the Panthers depth chart. He should be thankful for Blaine Gabbert, who was so terrible everyone forgot about how terrible Clausen was the year before.

There is no way they get 1.21 Gigwatts out of Cam Newton. 0.73 Gigawatts tops.
Even JJ does not go past 1.04 Gigawatts.

Delmas has surgery on his left knee. Week to week. That sucks, hope he is ready sometime early in the season. This sucks for Detroit

Those are the little things you look for out of a young WR that impress me the most, more so then just the natural ability. I guarantee you he can make a living out of doing this in the NFL, even if it's just a solid #2 possesion WR. DB's are primarily under 6'0 and will struggle with this all game long.

Guys who hold out of training camp are often more susceptible to nagging injuries early in the season as well. We've seen it happen recently to Revis and Arian Foster after hold outs.

**** is not going well for the Browns right now. (Or ever, amirite?)
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...james-andrews/
Trent Richardson is getting a balky knee (which has kept him out of training camp so far) checked out by Dr. James Andrews. That's never a good sign.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...me-suspension/
And Joe Haden tested positive for Adderall, likely getting him suspended for 4 games.
Also on that front...if I'm a player and I'm taking legal prescription Adderall, I'm stopping. It's not worth the risk of being suspended.

Apparently Brandon Browner threw T.O. to the ground in press coverage today. No pics, no vids, but that's the word on the street.
Not really news but just a reminder that the Seahawks secondary is beastly.

fortunately for the browns they can afford to have trent richardson be a complete flop because they had not one, but two first round picks this season
in ten years when they are talking about the weeden 5k, they won't be talking about a race; they will be talking about his rookie season passing yardage.

@gpngc
First time in T.O.'s life that he encountered a cornerback bigger than him.
T.O. may look good temporarily, but eventually that 38-year-old body will wear down. We'll see it happening in late October, onwards into November.
