Jason Witten out for the rest of the preseason with a spleen injury. If surgery is required he may be out for the rest of the year.

Romo isn't going to know what the hell to do. And Martellus Bennett is now a Giant on top of it. Go...John Phillips?

With the way Austin and Dez have been banged up and with Robinson now gone that passing game is going to be mighty ugly if Witten is out.

Doesn't he need surgery? I don't get how you can have internal bleeding in that organ and not require surgery.
If hes gone, thats a huge blow. They'll have no threat in the middle.

They still have Dez and Miles. If a slot emerges, they can survive.

From ESPN:
Quote:
The Cowboys still have not determined the seriousness of the injury, although early evaluations have indicated that Witten's spleen is not ruptured, according to the source. The star tight end is experiencing internal bleeding but still could avoid surgery, the source told Werder.
If surgery is not required, Witten is expected to miss up to three weeks but likely would be available for the season opener against the New York Giants on Sept. 5. But if the bleeding continues and he needs surgery, Witten would be sidelined indefinitely, according to the source.

I was just assuming that at least one of Dez or Miles was going down at some point. Its almost a sure thing at this point.

Sep 5. seems a bit early if it is a 3 week injury. Might as well put a big bullseye on his side for where to stick your helmet.

Well, Dez will either be: A.) Not included in the game plan or B.) Worn out in the 2nd half to the point where he's useless.
Miles will pull, pop, tear or sprain something...be out for several weeks...return...and pull, pop tear or sprain something else.
Felix Jones will explode in a fine mist of blood and tendons upon first contact.
DeMarco Murray will look pretty good and then pull, pop, tear or sprain something...
So, they probably will have nothing before too long.

This is what I envision... Just red and bloody also he doesn't reemerge.

All reports have Dez actually showing up in great shape this year. How true that is remains to be seen in Q4, but he'll probably get suspended for being ghetto-fabulous vs. a mall cop, anyway.

redman is hurt, dwyer hurt, mendenhall on pup...that gives us Rainey and Baron Batch as our only healthy RBs. Redman sucks to begin with, i wish they would have signed benson.
I think the only guys out there would be ryan grant and jeff demps that would be worth a look right now, i wouldnt think the niners would be able to keep gore, jacobs, dixon, hunter, and james so maybe we can snag one of them up

Benson is basically just a more famous Redman at this point. Neither is a guy who I'd trust to be a primary back for a full season.
Ryan Grant must have an injury that is keeping teams disinterested, because he's pretty clearly the best back still available.

Barry Richardson has surpassed Jason Smith as the Rams starting RT. That is such a miserable fall for Smith...

Dixon is reportedly moving to FB in the hopes of protecting his roster spot, so you're dead on with that list. Somebody will likely be gone from that group. The fact that they signed Jacobs really doesn't bode well for Dixon, both in roster spot and ability. He should be their big body guy and instead is replaced by the much older Jacobs.

Another OT from that class is having problems. Monroe was carted off the field in Jacksonville.

Yeah, sadly Dixon hasn't broken a tackle in 2 seasons :/ Don't know what his problem is.

It doesnt matter, Gore is the 1. Hunter is 2. Jacobs is short yardage. LaMike is the wildcard. Goodbye, Dixon.

He's really not that good at it...People see this huge runner and think he must be great at it, but he's really average at best.
And don't even get me started on him running draw plays...

Still an upgrade compared to last season for us probably. He looked great on a couple attempts in that scenario against the Vikings. It will be interesting to see how he's utilized moving forward.
