How does Hayward have better odds than Perry? Perry has no competition, a better position for winning these kind of awards, better name recognition, and better potential for big numbers that look good to voters.

I voted Luke Kuechly. It is the obvious choice, but I think that is for good reason. The guy is a good all-around football player and will be a key ingredient in helping that defense rebound (along with some other healthy individuals). He can play in all situations and sideline to sideline. I'd take the high odds on this one.

My #2 choice is Lavonte David. I think he's a good football player who will get his burn and also fits the above criteria.

I'm not really saying he will but you'd have to think Quinton Coples might have a shot. Clearly he has a ton of talent and I'm pretty sure Ryan will give him plenty of opportunities to get after the QB. Apparently he's been having a pretty good camp too so I can seeing him have a maybe double digit sack year.
But I'd still say Perry has a really good shot at the award because he's going to get his tackles since he's a linebacker but he'll probably be able to add 5+ sacks which Kuelchy definitely won't have.
