I don't do fantasy football so I don't know how this stuff works, but does Stafford make it to the second? 5000 yards, 41 TDs, at the age of 23.
It really does all depend on the league. Are you getting 6 pts per pass TD or 4? Alot of owners also like to grab the few good backs early as you can get very good fantasy QBs (Romo/Peyton/Eli/Ryan) in the 6th/7th round.
I like how many people are coming out of the woodwork as told-you-so's just because of one preseason game. I am kind of holding out that he will develop into at least something serviceable, but I don't think this game is any real reason to have that opinion.
Let the kneejerk reactions begin. Because BeerBaron was definitely the only poster that wasn't fond of Gabbert.
Exactly. Part of me wanted so badly to make some noise about Tannehill after his first preseason game, but throughout the season and over the years it's always clear that no one makes their name in one game; he was lousy tonight against Carolina, which is itself a pretty lackluster defense.
So good for Blaine if he's improving, but as a rookie he pretty much looked like all his critics said he would, and it's going to take more than one preseason game to change that. He looked good tonight, but one game does not make an I-told-you-so, good or bad. I will give him props for making a couple good throws while getting hit. I'm certainly not going to sit here at the keyboard ragging on a guy just because I want to be right about not liking him as a prospect. The point of scouting is to project who will be a good pro, not rooting for players to fail if you didn't take a shine to them in their draft year.
Calvin Johnson is about to obliterate the Madden Myth. If you play fantasy ball, take CJ in the first and Stafford in the second. You're welcome.
p.s. Jerome Simpson OMFG :O
I hope Rome has success this year. People forget the guy averaged nearly 20 yards a catch last season, but we ran him out of town because people were tired of waiting for a second round pick to develop/the weed thing(the horror!). Miles Austin would've never made it in this town.
Did you guys seriously think he wouldn't improve? This board kills me. keep letting Beerbaron feed you your NFL info.
How is he going to improve with worse coaching than he had last year? They replaced an elite wr corps from last year with Blackmon and some other bum. Jerry Sullivan as wr coach? lol. It's already been decided he is awful. He was thrown into the best situation a qb could ask for last year, and now things look worse, how on earth could he improve?

Ha. I swear, people here form locktight opinions about players and they refuse to acknowledge any change for better or worse.
Perhaps it's because Gabbert's got a chip on his shoulder, thanks to critics ripping him for being soft and scared ever since he stepped under center for Jacksonville. Speaking to Mike Silver of Yahoo! Sports Thursday, Gabbert made as much clear.
"I think that's part of our job description: Deal with the crap," Gabbert said. "But for people to say [I'm scared], I just don't understand it. They've never played in the NFL. They really don't know what goes on, or what happens.
"So that argument, I think, is just a copout for people to make because they're – I don't want to necessarily want to say jealous – but, they couldn't do my job. And that's the truth. They can't do my job. There are 31 other guys that can do my job, and that's it."
Bam. Big words for a quarterback who looked absolutely lost last year. But Gabbert, as he told CBSSports.com's Pete Prisco this offseason, knows that no one will listen to him until he starts to produce on the football field. (And credit due to Pete, who's been taking tons of heat from just about everyone for backing Gabbert all offseason.)
Gabbert's done that this preseason, going 18-of-26 for 222 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in two wins for the Jaguars. Wins in the preseason are worthless, and you can't put too much stock in how a quarterback plays when the games don't count.
