Quinn must be a fantastic practice QB. I don't have any other explanation for how he keeps getting #2 jobs, much less is in the league, because every time he sees the field in real game action, he's godawful.

I just watched the Panthers @ Jets game (I love condensed games on GamePass). Jebus ******* Christ, the Jets are going to be a train wreck this season. Their offense is predictable, their OL is mediocre at best, their starting QB is terrible and their backup QB is quite possibly the worst QB the NFL has ever seen. He's soooo slow at deciphering the defense and holds on to the ball way too long. Once Sanchez gets benched (around mid season) it's all downhill from there. Granted, the defense looks legit, but when you can't score TDs you won't win in the NFL. This should be the last year for Mark Sanchez. They'll end up drafting in the top half next spring.

I have Sanchez getting benched by week 6 and I'm sticking to it. But seeing the Jets fans actually boo Tebow a few times gives me pause. Maybe they really won't be clamoring for him as I expected...
Regardless, I expect any wins they get to be extremely low scoring 12-10 types of affairs, and while the defense looks good, it's not Ravens 2000 level good in that they can win enough of those games to make the post season.
I see a 6-10 record, Sanchez out, Rex out, and Woody Johnson pulling another crazy publicity stunt to try and get his team in the headlines this coming offseason.

you're exaggerating. he wasn't that bad, just couldn't get it into the endzone. They don't have a redzone target right now.

I would have to say after watching that game and being a Pats fan he was terrible. He had a couple nice throws on the first drive, but after that was pretty bad. I mean he looked better than Tebow so maybe now you guys dont have to worry as much about that becoming the disaster everyone else in the league is hoping for.

a complete nightmare would be if we end up with a mid to late round pick while missing the playoffs and end up drafting Landry Jones.

Ya'll moved up for Sanchez. If they're planning on going QB, then they might just trade up again to get the guy they want.

That might depend if Mike Tannenbaum is still the general manager going forward.

Well the fear is that Landry will be thought of as safe especially where he'll be picked. We could trade up for Wilson or bray but then you risk the same thing happening that happened with Sanchez. Then you just wasted extra draft picks.
Btw I'm not giving up on Sanchez though, he played well enough to get us to two afc championships and even played well enough to get us to a Super Bowl vs the saints until peyton figured our defense out the second half.
Rex may be a loud mouth jackass but he's not going anywhere. Our defense is legit and if you need proof look at cromartie and especially what he did to Aaron maybin.

You and I were watching something completely different.
1) The offense was predictable on purpose...its a vanilla offense. I don't know how effective the wildcat will be or what not but I am not worried about an offense being predictable. I think the Jets staff aren't showing their cards right now.
2) Sanchez had a very good game vs Carolina and since the O-Line actually did a good job in pass protection that game, I think he can be a good QB and be good enough to fend Tebow off for the whole year. Not buying Tebow replacing Sanchez unless Mark gets hurt which may very well happen pending on our O-Line.
3) Sanchez signed a 2 year deal basically for high money....so he will be here for next year unless traded. Now who knows if he or Tebow will be the starter but I like to think Sanchez at the very least will be around until the end of 2013, which then his contract can be basically cut.
4) The O-Line has 3 pro bowlers in Mangold, Moore and DBrick. Slauson is alright as our LG and I think with Austin Howard (maybe) finding the light as the RT, the O-Line might be better. I agree with you that its inconsistent and they have not helped get the push we need on short gains. Maybe that's more of a RB thing though.
The Jets to me can go anywhere from 6 to 10 wins. Its just so up in the air as to what they can be to me.

As I said last post, Sanchez is on hook for a big deal next year and I can't see Rex leaving....he's yet to have an under .500 record.
Now I can see our GM Mr. T get canned with a poor year however.

Take into account the weapons he's working with. Keller left early and it meant not having an NFL level TE since we were down to our 4th string TE.
Holmes/Kerley finally logged into a game so clear rust, which is probably what happened on the Holmes drop. Hill had a nice game but he also had a terrible drop that cost Sanchez the INT and it was arguable that Hill could have caught the endzone TD.
Add our running game which is just inconsistent with Greene and overall I thought Sanchez had a great game. Wasn't that far off from the game Newton had even though I know no Steve Smith.

Well I take that back, he had a very good game. Great probably would have meant he threw TDs at will on the Panthers.
