I know. But to be honest, even that much is impressive. After seeing him last year, I never thought we'd even see that much.

He's actually standing in the pocket this year.

I'm going to have such an erection if the Vikings finish this weekend two games ahead of the Packers.

Question about the Eagles/Browns game this past Sunday -

With the Eagles winning 10-9 and the Browns scoring a TD off the Jackson INT return, why didnt the Browns go for the two point conversion?

There was enough time on the clock for the Eagles to get 2 FGs at the time. They had to kick the extra point.

Funny thing is, immediately afterwards, because this is a draft site all everybody did was talk about all the prospects and how they could end up just as good. I lost track of how many times I heard "but they could have just gotten Greg Little a round or 2 later" after the draft. Once it comes to the realization that Julio is emerging as one of the better WRs' in the NFL and a difference maker, and all those picks turned into average players then it becomes a crap deal for the team getting all the prospects.

Wasn't talking about you though, it's just always funny how these deals are always looked at on these sites. Read through those Julio threads immediately after and look at all the "but they could have gotten players A, B, and C instead" and every single one of those hypothetical scenarios, those teams would give up all those players + more for Julio.

No, I'm guilty of being one of those guys.

Now to be fair, I had no idea they'd wet the bed with their picks the way they did, but I thought they got tremendous value for their pick. They just did a horrible job of using those picks to their advantage.

For example, had they got Andy Dalton, Trent Richardson and one of the pass rushers in the 2012 draft or if they moved up to get RGIII, would any of us say the Falcons got the better end of the deal?

Probably not. But the Browns were the Browns, and took a bunch of draft picks and did their best to screw it up.

This reminds me of 2007. Detroit was willing to trade the Bucs the 2nd pick for the 4th ad both they're 2nd rounders. Heiden and Allen said it was too much to get Megatron and ended up with Gaines Adams (RIP) Aaorn Sears ( out of Nfl) and Sabby Piscatelli (?).

Atlanta is clearly the winner of another botched move by the Browns.

Sometimes quality does trump quantity. The Eli/Rivers trade is another one that comes to mind.

They got Rivers, Merriman and Kaeding. We got Eli. Merriman was out of the league in 3 years (ultimately), Kaeding is this generation's Vanderjagt. So it essentially became an Eli for Rivers trade.

Sometimes we overvalue the complimentary pieces. There's so much roster turnover in the NFL and NFL careers are so short, often times those complimentary pieces last a couple of years and that's it. The overall longterm value of the trade comes down to the main pieces and who wound up better.

Unless that 4th round pick winds up a HOFer, nobody really will give a damn about what you got out of it 6 years from now, bc he probably will either be on another team, out of the league, or just an average player when it's all said and done.

It's the old adage: trade 4 quarters for the dollar every time in sports. If you can trade a few pieces for one big star, DO IT.

People like to piss and moan, saying "he won't have any help!" So what. Especially if that star is a QB, you do it. If he's worth the trade, he'll elevate the talent level of the guys around him just by being there.

There's a fine line though, you can't do it every time. Because depth does matter, and if you go quality over quantity every time, your depth suffers a massive blow.

You have to pick your spots.

Completely disagree with this. The way our defense was playing there was no reason to think the Eagles would march down the field twice, making the only thing that was really deadly was a solid drive put together. Also, a 2 point conversion completely eliminates the chance of them being able to score 2 field goals, making a touchdown the only thing that can even tie the game at that point.

That's hindsight talking. What makes you think that putrid offense would get the 2 point convernsion when they couldn't even get a 1st down?

With a good 8 minutes left in the game it was the right call.

With a good 8 minutes left in the game it was the right call.
Yeah the offense was putrid, but what makes me think they're going to drive down the field for field goals twice? Browns defense was playing lights out, a fluke touchdown or a good drive for a td doesn't kill you if you go for 2 and make it.

If they're able to get a touchdown you lose automatically by not going for two. If you go for two and miss the conversion, you lose from a touchdown (which you would have lost from anyways) and you lose if they some how can muster two field goals within that time frame... I think going for two was the better option, thought it during the game, and think it after we lost because we didn't go for two anyways.

That was assuming that you're sure of the star too. Player for player trades are somewhat rare in the NFL anyway, but since we were looking at the players the Browns got with those picks vs. the emerging star in Julio, I thought it was an apt comparison.

The Bears are a good example of this. Do I think not having the two firsts and a third we gave up for Cutler has hurt us in some other spots? Absolutely. They would have been great to have for our o-line or our aging defense. But would anyone we could have taken with those picks combine to make the impact on our team Cutler has? Absolutely not. In the last two seasons, when healthy, he went 11-5 and 7-3 with an NFC Championship Game appearance.

That was my main point. Give up the players (or draft picks) if you feel you are going to get a truly impactful player in return.
