The NFL is going to say "**** that." The only way anything changes is if people stop watching. Once money is being pulled out of the NFL's pockets, they'll do something.
Since I'm not going to stop watching regardless of who is doing the officiating, I'm just going to take it and hope it ends. If not...well, I'm still going to watch.

I get that but I think it is completely fine to ***** and moan about something when its clearly wrong. Its not going to change anything but its a way to vent frustration.

oh it's 100% on NBC.

eh, i think if nbc really wanted those questions answered, they'd hire someone competent. or they'd bring torrey into the studio tomorrow. i think they just want post game reactions, and it's on the sideline reporters to figure out how to get them.
that said, i know absolutely nothing about the inner workings here, so maybe it does all come down from the studio, and that chick was smart enough to know it was a dumb question, but not tactful enough to ask it properly.

$40-$70 million dollars, refs want their back pay for games missed this season, and they want continued no-accountability as they shot down the NFL's idea of having a "bench" of refs to pull from whenever a ref is struggling during the season.
I can provide links if need be.

It's a dead ball foul, which means the Patriots would have the ball on the 8.

I'm just going to stop. My argument has already been turned into a straw man as if I'm defending the replacement officials. I'm just being a realist here. The NFL has no incentive to cave into the demands of the real refs as long as people are tuning in and handing over their money.
|
And never once have I said anything about the NFL having to cave to officials tonight. But I have every damn right to sit here and talk about it, or ***** about it. As does anyone else, and if it bugs you that much stop coming in here and reading what people are posting. You not mentioning the poor officiating isn't somehow making it go away. But good for you for being so high and mighty of not mentioning how terrible the officiating has been this weekend. Thats helped much more so.

A big part of the problem is that the real refs THINK that the continued failures of the replacement refs are helping their cause, so they're digging in deeper.
But, as I've said, the NFL has no incentive to bring them back until money is lost. People are still watching, advertisers are still buying air time...to them, it's business as usual.

I like the NFL's idea of bench refs, truthfully. But the money is a fraction of the profits the NFL sees every year, they need to stop being greedy pricks.

re: the ref don't watch/watch thing. i don't think there's any issue with complaining, in the moment, about a single game. but endless, season long complaining is silly and non-productive. it'd be like one of your friends bitching all year because they think they should get a raise at work, but not ever bringing it up to their boss. every now and then? sure, i get it and it sucks. but when it's day after day, all season, you either need to put up or shut up.
* - i'm not suggesting anyone is or isn't doing the above.

Absolutely agree. I have watched my last NFL game. The owners, including Robert Kraft, have displayed a level of greed that I never imagined. I can't even put in to words the disgust I have for what just happened on national television.
I don't think I even give a **** if they come to an agreement tomorrow, due to the simple fact they allowed this to happen.
I stopped watching the MLB and the NBA due to the same reasons. This means I never have to watch ESPN ever again which is absolutely fantastic.
I understand if others won't be able to do the same thing, but honestly take a minute or two and think about what exactly happened.

It's not the talking about it, it's the irrational rage-mode way you're going about it. If the Patriots won tonight, you'd be off doing who knows what and I'd be arguing with a Ravens fan right now.
Read my last couple of posts about the money demands and why the NFL probably doesn't see this as a problem right now.

$50 Million isn't exactly a trivial amount of money.

we did deserve to lose but that hold on gronk that negated the go ahead TD was taken away..... and that was not holding on gronk

Flacco is god-tier at the two minute drill.
That game was stressful. So glad we pulled it out in the end.

I have explicitly said that either way it was a terrible officiated game, and we just happened to be on the losing end of it. Again still have yet to say anything about the NFL caving or negotiating. Still have yet to be illogical, or irrational. Is bitching helping the situation, clearly not but I came to a message board to do it, because it sucked and thats what its here for. Is not talking about it helping it? No so I don't see how youre any more rational.

It's about 0.20 percent of the revenue the NFL sees every year, if that.

The problem with the super rich is that they didn't get to be super rich by handing out money to everyone that demanded some...
The NFL gets a billion with a "b" dollars from ESPN alone to broadcast 16 MNF games a year. But, you have a bunch of greedy old owners who aren't exactly inclined to be handing that money back out...
