Watt has the sickest swim move. He can swim all day, his frame, speed and strength combo is just too much for any OLmen to match, he just shoots off the line, swims over them, and hits the qb every time.
What a beast.

This thread is not real. Watt is a top 5 DE maybe top 3 but wouldn't put him ahead of guys like Ware and JPP... Watt is better all-around as far as stopping the run and getting to the QB and IQ etc.. but pure speed and pass rush not sure he is the purest DE.

Eh weve moved more to a 4-3 now, and he rarely is put at DE now that we have Jones and Cunningham playing better. but Wlfork is having a pretty godly season thus far. Hes made so many huge plays week in and out. Slimming down has looked like a good idea thus far.

In what world do you have to be a pure speed pass rusher to be considered the best DL in the league? He's not a 43 DE so I'm not even sure why that would matter at all, although I have no doubts that he could probably do it. He consistently destroys whoever he's lined up over. What more can you ask?

2 of the 3 greatest pass rushers of all time were power rushers. Not speed rushers. Those being Reggie White and Bruce Smith. The guy with the record for most sacks in a season... Also a power rusher.
But you said it yourself, Watt is the best all around. Even though JPP is terrific against the run as well. I think Justin Smith is certainly in the top 3 despite there being some great linemen in the leauge. But Watt, JPP and Justin Smith are my 3 favorites right now. Watt probably gets the edge since he's such a dominant pass rusher from the 34 position. No one has been this good since Bruce Smith. I think (with Revis going down) that Watt is the best defensive player in football right now.

LMAO. Leroy Harris is so, so, so, sooooo bad. And now on top of that he's ******* delusional as well.

Watt probably is playing the best football on the DL in the league. I lean towards more established players when calling a player the best in the league, but Watt is right with anyone. I'm also not that shocked that a 34 DL is getting sacks in Wade Phillips defense. Wade isn't forcing Watt to hold 2 gaps. Watt is allowed to rush and attack.
Side note: not condoning Leroy Harris, but it kinda sucks for some good O-linemen who if they actually have a good day but have 1 or 2 slip ups that lead to a sack, then no one recognizes the other good stuff they achieved that game. They could get push in the run game, give decent time against a good rusher, but 1 sack and people generally dismiss the other stuff. Its actually insane how some OL only give up 1 or 2 a year.

I was completely wrong about Watt in the draft. I thought he was overrated coming out, but he's a force. When effort and intensity matches natural talent you get a beastly defensive lineman. He's looking like the next Seymour, maybe better.

Vince is awesome, yes. But that hit, well anyone over 230 lbs could make that hit against a 200 lb string bean guy not knowing what is going on wit ha 4 yard head start.
JJ is what Bruce Smith was. A 3-4 DE that can get 12-14 sacks a season and be dominant in every facet of the game.
Imagine a front 3 of JJ, Vince and Justin Smith.

Cool it ninja. He (Big Banger) said Reggie and Bruce were 2 of the top 3 pass rushers off all-time. Alex asked who the 3rd was. I know you're new here so I'll give you a pass...this time.

Im pretty sure it would have to be a former QB. So he would have known what the offense was thinking

He referenced Strahan as another power rusher outside of the top 3 of all-time, 2 of which were also power rushers, Smith and White. I wanna know who the other guy is in his top 3.
Reading comprehension is your friend.

He's in the conversation for sure, but I just watched Ngata eat the Browns entire interior offensive line this past Thursday, sorry but right now Watt just isn't that good and that's not a knock on him, just that Ngata is playing unreal right now and has been for a long time.
That said, since it's brought up a lot, give me Tyron Smith at that pick 10 times out of 10, even knowing what we know now. Unless we don't care about our QB or scoring points ever. Maybe, just maybe if Doug Free didn't completely suck and was average to good at LT still I'd consider it. But even then, Tyron played the entire last season at 20 years old and played it at a very important position at a high level.
With the obvious learning curve and bumps in the road he experiences, he's been pretty damn good and isn't even close to tapping out on his potential. Watt was a perfect pick but we forced our hand after neglecting the offensive line for so long.

It's okay, the Jaguars are finally going to bottom out and get a real football player like Geno Smith or Dion Jordan.
